Very sad but I guess he had a very long innings as they say

I remember going on a school trip to Jodrell Bank around 1964 when I was still at junior school and everyone was very excited - really ground breaking technology at the time Smile

It says in the link that Helen posted, ruddles ""What is even more remarkable is that, more than 50 years later, this instrument (after several upgrades) is still doing 'frontier' science"

Absolutely Becky - I drive past the place fairly regularly and I never cease to marvel at the cutting edge technology involved which is still relevant today and I say that as not really a very technically skilled person Embarassed

It is a fantastic sight when you drive past and a the same from up above. When you take off from Manchester airport your flightpath is often over Jodrell.
