100 of pages regarding Hillsborough have been released. 100 of statements from Police and Ambulance services have been changed on a huge scale. Some said Animals in statements, then removed to say People.. Terrible accounts. Some need to be bought to trial.

It's arrogant and disrespectful towards Liverpool fans and people who live in Liverpool.

Quite appalling that some or indeed many witness statements were altered to push the blame towards the Liverpool fans and away from the police.
They should at least be charged with perverting the course of justice as well as negligence.
Equally appalling that about 41 people might have survived had ambulances not been prevented from entering the ground.

Terrible tragedy all round, now that the families have answers I hope they can find some peace.

I haven't followed this story closely, but why were these statements not made public at the time?

I remember the event vividly and I know, closely, one survivor of Hillsborough who was traumatised for months, mainly the sight of seeing fifty-plus bodies piled up in a corridor as he was escorted out of the ground.

I recall that the press at the time were (wrongly) likening this event to the Heysel stadium disaster of a couple of years earlier which rightly did blame Liverpool fans' hooliganism, and that too was horrendous as we saw people dying on our TV screens.

I actually had a ticket for that particular match but sold it as I had the opportunity for a weekend away with a ladywho subsequently became my wife

Talk about a lucky escape Smile - but there again I didn't really have a lucky escape = I ended up suffering fifteen years of absolute hell

It's great that the truth which all we Liverpool fans have known for more than twenty years has at last come out but I still hope people in Liverpool and indeed elsewhere will continue to boycott that comic known as 'The Sun' whose apology tomorrow seems very hollow to me Mad

Because the police who were on duty at the stadium were ordered to systematically change their statements with the result that the Liverpool fans appeared to be to blame for what happened. Continued attempts by families of the dead and campaigners on their behalf to gain access to documentary evidence have been blocked in the intervening years - until today's publication of the report which reveals the extent of the cover-up.

Hillsborough families are calling for legal action against those involved, but some senior officers at the time maybe dead now. The Sun Newspaper has apologised, as well as Kelvin McKenzie who was Editor at the time who printed appalling accounts.

He only apologised because he had to, I hope they tell him to stick his apology up his jacksy..
On the other hand I thought both David Cameron's & Ed Miliband's statements were respectful and sincere.

Kelvin MacKenzie knew exactly what was going on at the time and if he were in the same position today with a similar event he'd do exactly the same. The man is a hypocrite - as is that insidious rag he edited.

All the changing of Police statements is on a large scale as the papers phone hacking. Whoever - needs to go and find these Police Officers ( If they are alive ) and find justice for the people of Liverpool. It's mind boggling reading some of amended statements. Media keep saying " Hopefully this will close the door for people of Liverpool" -I'm afraid, the door is still wide open..

It would be a rather fruitless exercise if they weren't!
