Let's hope he stays on local radio in London and doesn't get inflicted on the rest of us
That man bores the pants off me - 'pants' just about summing up his abilities as a radio presenter _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Just heard his rant during his own show on the news. A good way of ensuring you never get another job on the BBC!

I agree, Helen and Ruddles.
Really he's just a professional Cockney oaf who's past his sell by date. The BBC have been extremely good to him so he shouldn't be so bitter. |

He still presents a show on Saturdays for Five Live. A DLT style ending. Attacking the whole of the BBC, not just BBC London Management. I would say 'Goodbye to Five Live as well'. How on earth the producers let him continue is beyond me.. I bet it embarrassed a few BBC management and employees. |

How ironic.
I like Danny and wish I'd heard the show yesterday. He may have acted unprofessionally but he's got a point - BBC middle-management are killing radio, and in particular the decimation of the local services is a scandal no-one seems to be talking about. |

Rumours that Danny is coming to Radio 2. His agent has said "Radio 2 tends to be where genius and the mavericks turn up" |

I certainly don't enjoy listening to Danny Baker - I did hear some of his "rant" on Radio 4 yesterday morning - and really don't think he's right for Radio 2. We have enough of his type already - well, OK, just one which is one too many- but he does seem to have been treated badly by BBC London. I think the BBC won't be winning any staff relations awards any time soon. |

Multi Sony award winner, great knowledge, good and varied musical tastes, offers something different from the bland normality.Would enliven a tired Radio 2.
He may not be to everyone's taste but the negative comments on here are certainly not deserved.
And yes I do have a Danny Baker Radio 5 T-shirt! _________________ The wheel keeps on turning...

That doesn't fit with some of the so called presenters currently appearing on Radio 2. _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

I've been a Dan fan for more years than I care to remember. I liked him when he first came to my attention on the Six O'Clock Show, which would be around '82, I guess. Only Dan could have made Pets Win Prizes work, or Quick On The Draw, though his chat show was terrible. He's livened up other's shows as well, including the long forgotten Wogan one, which I think, was on Channel Five.
But radio are where his strengths lie. The station that he's just left, used to be GLR, and in it's pomp, had him doing Saturday and Sunday mid morning shows. He was followed by Chris Evans on Sats, and Chris Morris on Sundays. Evans' show was awful zoo radio, and of course, after that, he rocketed to fame and fortune. Morris went on to greater things like Brass Eye and The Day Today. His shows were brilliant and original. But Dan's were as good, but in different ways. He's best when interacting with the great unwashed. Bannister ran the station at the time, just before taking over R1, when he culled the poptastic crew, bringing Dan over, which was a bit of a disaster. Then on to the opening of Five Live, with his morning edition, which was more of the same of his GLR shows.
He's certainly not an oaf. He may not be to everyone's tastes, but he's possibly the best radio presenter around. Nobody is quicker of thought and wit. I'm not talking about his football stuff, but the local radio broadcasts that he excels at. I met him a few years back, at a Chas Hodges gig. Chas had told me he was coming, so I arranged for Mad Med to email his show, telling him I'd be sidling up to him, for an autograph for her. He couldn't have been nicer. We come from the same manor...and he bought me a couple of pints of cider, as well as being in his and his boy Sonny's company for the evening. He was there, primarily to introduce Chas, but when after a while, Chas started playing Snooker loopy..Dan said it was time to "F off". A real nice bloke, who more than lived up to my expectations.
Dan was hurt and angry last Thursday, not surprisingly. Yes, he lost it., but that's who he is. The bitter irony is, he did a brilliant show the day before..his Halloween special, full of the joys. I'll post links to both shows, in case anyone is remotely interested.

I hope he'll be back on the station, as it suits his style. Not sure about R2, and certainly not Talk Sport, which is one awful station. But Danny Kelly is on there, so I'd guess that'd be the one. After all, you gotta pay the bills. He's writing for Jim Henson at the moment, and his book is out, so he won't starve, but he spends money like water. Just has no respect for it, which I would guess, is a trait that he gets from his late Dad. _________________ life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans |

Sadly... no, he's not. After writing the pilot and getting the show commissioned they sacked him! |

Him speaking out doesn't seem to have done him any harm re his career at the BBC...
Danny Baker to front BBC Four album show
Presenter Danny Baker has landed a new BBC Four TV show celebrating great albums, weeks after quitting his BBC London radio show live on air.
He will host the three-part discussion show, one of the channel's highlights announced for the forthcoming year.
