_______________

Suicide rarely a knee jerk reaction to single event.Mostly accumulation, so those blaming 2 Aussies, think before starting witch hunt.

I think the Aussies crossed the line in doing what they did - it's the type of thing Jonathan Ross or Russell brand would do given the chance

Remember the famous quotation that 'for every action there is an equal reaction' and sadly in this case the reaction was more than the Aussie perpetrators bargained for - shame on them Mad

Apparently it was all cleared by the lawyers of the Radio station to broadcast this. That has obviously back fired. " We don't know if the tragic death is truly linked to hoax call? This is why maybe the hospital boss should have waited for the coroners report, but unfortunately this was leaked the nurse was the person who took the call and the press are making a meal out of it. We might have not known of her death if for one the Duchess wasn't admitted to hospital.

The two DJ's are not returning to the station until further notice as everyone is deeply shocked.

Lord Justice Leveson is currently in Australia. I bet he's doing a few interviews.

We don't know that she took her own life because of the call but it seems too much of a coincidence for there not to be some connection, it probably tipped the poor lady over the edge, maybe she thought she'd lose her job or something.

very very sad whatever the reason.

Levveson said at the end of the press conferance he will not talk about his report to anyone. It is very rare for it just to be one thing that leads to a suicide the poor lady may have had other things going on in her life which is not our business.I have been moved by this story and wish her family a lot of support in the future

Dreadfully sad, I felt really depressed at this news.

It’s really sad.

We all say and do things every day that can have a profound effect on other people, without us ever knowing about it. A smile here, a frown there: even the very smallest of little things can make a huge impact.

It is really sad, but I do think that the media, encouraged to a certain extent by the hospital, is making an undignified drama out of it, and I suspect that we are not being told the whole story.

Yes, we're awesome, aren't we? Smile

I don’t think it needs to be anything awesome, Ron. At one end of the scale it could be a casual, throwaway remark to a stranger on a bus (not that you’d get me on a bus) or to a checkout operator, a taxi driver, a barman- anyone really. Everything we say and do has an affect on others. Sometimes good, sometimes bad but most of the time we have no clue either way and never will. At the other end of the scale, deliberately trying to set someone up or to use and abuse their naivety in the name of entertainment is something that: given the circumstances: a nurse looking after probably the most talked about person on the planet was not a great idea.

Well - as that great raconteur of human life Morrisey famously sang

'Hang The DJ Hang The DJ Hang The DJ'

Obviously he was ahead of his time - perhaps it was a subtle demand for the reintroduction of capital punishment in Australia - but clearly he got the numbers wrong Smile

A stupid prank, certainly, but not something which hasn't been tried before, by radio, TV and newspapers, and the hospital and its staff should have been prepared for it.

The whole story is not yet out, but the latest news takes us a little further

Morrissey says in The Guardian today that the Royal family is to blame for the death of the nurse
Rolling Eyes

Singer criticises Duchess of Cambridge over the suspected suicide of Jacintha Saldanha, saying 'she feels no shame about the death of this woman'

"It wasn't because of two DJs in Australia that this woman took her own life, it was the pressure around her," Morrissey told New Zealand's 3News. While much of this stress can be blamed on the press, he said, or the "maximum pressure [of] … the Palace and Clarence House," he called on the duchess to take direct responsibility.

Morrissey has even accused Kate Middleton of being in hospital for spurious reasons, despite doctors diagnosing her with the serious complaint known as hyperemesis gravidarum. "Does she have a health condition?" the singer asked. "Is it anorexia or is it pregnancy? … I mean morning sickness already? So much hoo haw and then suddenly as bright as a button as soon as this poor woman dies she's out of hospital? It doesn't ring true."

This is in stark contrast to the medical evidence, which views hyperemesis gravidarum as a serious medical condition with symptoms that include 24-hour periods of vomiting and dehydration. Hospitalisation is a common consequence for those who suffer from it.

Morrissey is quoted as saying: "The arrogance of the British royals is absolutely staggering."

It is tempting to re-write that as: "The arrogance of Morrissey is absolutely staggering."

What a nasty piece of work he is.

I'm not saying that I particularly like Morrisey as a person - for one thing he supports Manchester United Mad - but I think it's fairly unquestionable that he was and still is a great musician who was at the cutting edge of musical evolution in the early eighties Smile

He obviously knows it and it has gone to his head.
