People and families who are on a low budget seem to be buying these cheap products which are involved with the Horse Meat scandal.

A quid Lasagne's, Mince and Burgers etc, seem to be the ones which have been taken off the supermarket shelves. Should we start buying expensive meat products to be sure we are getting what we are paying for?

Also people are selling Lasagne's on E-Ebay now.

Now there's horse in Tesco Spaghetti Bolegneighs. We're still a long way from the final furlong in this scandle. MP Tom Watson ( the man who has done wonders for chunky eyewear) is on the case, keeping us informed on twitter.

I've just come back from Waitrose where I've spent ages buying stuff with no meat of any kind in it. I'm really close to just saying , that's it ... we're going veggie... well, apart from bacon obviously, we couldn't get through a weekend without sandwiches made from a freshly baked loaf stuffed full of crispy rare breed organic bacon.

That's good to know about Morrison's as I go there every now and then as there are some of their own brands I like, and their meat always has been good. I wonder how Marks and Spencer will fare in all of this. I've not heard anything about their produce.

As for mince I buy what is labeled 'Scotch beef' from Cost Co in 2 kg packs and split then freeze.

I wonder if we will see a return to 'cooking from scratch' after this? I must admit I've become a bit lazy Sad

I've just been to Scats for some bits and bobs: on their food counter they have what must be the most unfortunately named joint of beef for sale... Horseshoe Brisket. I said to the girl at the counter, good luck selling that this week.....what do you mean she asked, so I explained, given the news about horsemeat, do you think it's a good idea to call bits of beef after part of a horse. OMG! She yelled, then called several others to come and look.

I spent some time going through my freezer looking for suspect items and I left quite a number on the work surface top and when my son came in he asked why they were there and I said 'They're Off'

I wonder if Wetherspoons or Hungry Horse pubs will be next in this story.

Both those chains became notorious for serving Zebu steaks, and maybe they still do?

I'm hearing on the news about Ikea withdrawing a batch of meatballs because traces of horsemeat have been found in a batch made in Sweden.

Apparantly the meatballs sold in the Ikea cafes are to die for! (especially if you're a horse it would seem... Laughing
