PM is going to look at a tougher approach to housing for immigrants. They will have to wait between 2-5 years before they are able to go onto council lists to be housed. This will free up lists for those who live and born in the UK who've waited for years to be considered for housing.

______________

Tougher approach is stopping them coming to the UK. So where will they be housed? B&B's and half way houses? They will still find a loop hole, with them using some of there families who already live here to get housed.

It's all very well our PM saying things like this from the comfort of Westminster but what's going to happen the first time a family of newly-arrived immigrants turns up at a local housing office? Won't the local authority be obliged to find them somewhere to live?

Ian.

I'm tempted to say 'not before it's time' if it wasn't for the fact that this is exactly like his promise on an EU Referendum simply a cynical and fairly desperate ploy by Cameron and his cronies to appear to be tough on immigration when the reality is that just like Labour and the Lib Dems they don't give a toss and are just doing it in an attempt to stem the rapidly growing support for Mr Farage and his party - and I understand the period is to be 2 years rather than 5 as suggested

Quite frankly I've given up on Cameron and won't be voting Tory unless and until he gets booted out and replaced by someone who lives in the real world and can command popular support by genuinely taking on board many of UKIP's policies and making them mainstream Government policy Mad

There are not enough houses (unless we use up precious countryside), not enough jobs, not enough places in schools etc. etc. There has to be a limit on immigration and thank goodness it is at least being discussed now by the political parties without the label "racist" being attached to them.

No one is letting on how many Bulgarians and Romanians are likely to want to come to the UK after Jan 2014. If the the Govt. doesn't know then it should find out.

Why can't prospective emigres from those countries be required to apply by a specific cut-off date and then at least we shall know and be able to tell them how many we can or can't accept? Or does our membership of the EU require us to accept all who want to come?

If we HAVE to accept all-comers but refuse them benefits and social housing for a considerable period of time, where are they supposed to live and how will they eat? The UK would never allow them to live on the streets and starve.

Generally speaking, I don't think that we in the UK are racist but if we feel that we are being crowded out by too many immigrants, it would undoubtedly change.

I am getting increasingly interested in UKIP.

No one can guess how many Bulgarians and Romanians will arrive in the next few years. Suffice to say that the previous Labour Government (who admit to wanting to swamp this country with immigrants) predicted that 13,000 Poles would arrive here, instead two million came here.

Bulgaria and Romania, once we overlook the cosy holiday pictures, are stinking cesspits of crime, poverty and corruption. They will arrive in their millions, all desperate to find a better life here and escape from crimes committed in their own countries.

True, many will go to Italy, Greece and Spain (better climates, similarities in language) but when confronted with the racism endemic in those counries, and lack of benefits, guess where they'll travel on to.

Unfortunately Mr Farage is already in the pocket of Murdoch, I do not believe his party offer anything different. All a vote for UKIP will do is let Labour in.

I would just like to remind people that Murdoch and his rags always back whoever they see as winners

Just cast your mind back to the super cosy relationship between Murdoch's newspapers and that war criminal Tony Blair who of course was the main person who allowed uncontrolled immigration into this country but yet Murdoch still backed him

If Murdoch and his cohorts are now seriously suggesting that UKIP's policy on immigration is right then that's a welcome turnaround probably about 15 years too late - but as they say better late than never Smile

The sun is reported to be thinking of backing UKIP but the sun only backs winners so can't see em going through with it.

Tbh i would rather have a labour government anyway though i do have doubts about Milliband and Balls which is quite worrying
