Well, what a cracking show this morning, as usual some great tunes and a cracking format. Songs from the adverts - hmmm, so that's how that thread got started.
Richard is a great dj, a pleasure to listen to. Loved the here's a bunch of wimps..." intro to Anarchy in th UK.
Cheers, Rich.
If you missed it and want a show with great music and great dj'ing - listen again on the net. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Andy ...totally agree.
great presenter and a very eclectic mix of new and old music.
End Of The Innocence by Don Henley is a classic song in my book.
Every day i enjoy his programme.
He does Radio Oxford Sat and Sundays too.
Just a thoroughly good all round presenter who knows and loves the music he plays.
I just wish he could be back on Radio 2 on a Sat afternoon _________________ The Voice of reason in a MAD MAD world |

Richard's daily show on BFBS Radio 2 is the "soundtrack to your day".
I listen in daily-just simply superb radio entertainment with great music played each and every day.
Weekends are good to -with Allinsons Albums and a fantastic Sunday morning show on BBC Radio Oxford.
Who said there's no such thing as too much Allinson. |

Hi Mark...these comments seem familiar don't they!!!!
A good show everyday and he does feature a lot of new artists which i don't think Radio 2 BBC pick up.
I get the impression he really enjoys the freedom at BFBS with no traffic reports and other stuff to interrupt the flow.

Could be the reason why he's not on Radio 2, he's working for someone else. |

Richard Allinson is on holiday next week and is taking a break from BFBS Radio 2. His cover while he is away is Richard Hutchinson.
RA will of course be on over the Easter period covering the breakfast slot for Radio 2 while the regular incumbents have a break. |

Nod is making a point. Actually I think Richard would of been good on Smooth London, without keep on trying to justify himself to Lesley he needs a show on R2. |

At least we can 'listen again' to BFBS during the week, then listen to him on Radio 2 at the weekend. Cracking shows this week again.
Nod, if you don't like him, don't comment! There's a lot of people who prefer him to the person normally on Drivetime........

I'm entilted to my opinions, you obviously don't like CE but I don't want you to stop saying so if you want.
I mainly joined the R2 MB because I was fed up of getting RA on my radio every Bank Holiday and being the fill in for every show . |

So you really thought joining a message board would stop Richard being on R2 on a Bank Holiday......???

Richard Allinson is in fact having a 2 week break from BFBS.
As I'm not a big fan of Dermot O'Leary covering for Ken Bruce) I'll give Smooth a listen until Richard returns.
Who is their mid morning presenter? |

Anyone tune into Richard Allinsons cover today (and for the next 2 weeks). His name is Richard Hutchinson-not bad-a bit nervous I thought but he gave it a good go.
Sadly he did not have the musical knowledge of RA but very few dj's/presenters have in comparison.
Richard Allinson rocks. |

What a relief to have the excellent Richard Allinson back on BFBS Radio today following his recent holiday.
Whilst he was away I listened to Dermot O'Leary who I thought was excellent covering for the normal inept/boring Ken Bruce. |

Andy-Dermot gets a lot of grief on these boards-I really don't know why-he isn't that bad-well not in my opinion anyway.
I think his interaction with the contestants on Pop Master was really top draw in the last couple of weeks-very engaging, trying to put the contestants at ease, no putting them down if they did not know the answers etc-very good interpersonal skills.
I also felt on his watch the music played was a lot wider and interesting/less sticking to the safe play list.
Out of 10 I would rate him an 8.
I'm clearly in the minority in liking Dermot on here because based on other comments posted on this board he is clearly not respected/rated.
Well I would just say that I have a strong inkling that Lesley is grooming him for bigger and better things on Radio 2-watch out Ken Bruce et all.
Finally, Richard is back from his vacation and back in the swing on BFBS Radio 2-I had a really nice e-mail from him yesterday commenting on a few things I had raised regarding his show. Always put me in a good mood when I get e-mails like that.
Richard Allinson rocks (with Dermot not trailing that far behind!) |

Nice one on the email, Mark - I've had a few myself and it's great when you get these, makes the audience - presenter connection that much better and I must say Rich is one dj who takes time to reply (as do a few others).
I gave Dermot a go when he was on Saturday's but I'm afraid I'm not a fan, I still try sometimes but his monotone voice and stumblings just get on my nerves and makes me wonder how much prep goes into his show. We know Richard puts a lot of prep in and sounds very professional too.
Richard does indeed rock, with you on that one but I'll leave Dermot behind.....way behind. Still, different strokes and all that. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Love the new set of jingles used on Richard's daily BFBS show earlier today.
Radio 2 you take notice and get some new ones yourself. |

Mark,
Don't they remind you just a bit too much of Chris Evans's Jingles?
Don't like the jingles...but love the show. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Hi Andy-Hope you are well.
Have to say I love the new "jingle set" for the daily show for Richard Allinson on BFBS.
The jingles remind me of "a big band style"- certainly very different to other jingles you regularly hear on the radio for other top dj's/presenters.
Yeah I really like them-Richard quite rightly is looking for something different to promote his shows etc and why not-it demonstrates the seriousness/profeesional stance they place on the listening/customer expreience etc. imho.
I think BBC Radio 2 could learn a thing or two from BFBS re presentation/website content re promoting shows/presenters. |

Thanks, mark - hope you are well too.
The jingles are growing on me, slowly.
Still, the shows are great - nice bit of banter inbetween records, and what great music. Really love the BFBS show. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Shock, horror!!
Richard's show on BFBS Radio 2 for Monday 7th May is pre-recorded (as he is live on BBC Radio 2 covering for the Terry Wogan breakfast show.)
Normal live service is resumed from Tuesday 8th May. |

In case anyone is interested Richard Allinson is off for 2 weeks starting 13/8.
A female DJ called called Kelly Anne Smith is I believe covering for Richard while he is away. |

To be honest, I'd be much more interested in finding a replacement for Chris Evans than SK.
Richard Allinson, maybe? |

Anyone hear Richard Allinson on his daily show today.
He was clearly suffering from a terrible cold-still turned in a grand performance.
Good to hear that Richard is going to be on Radio 2 over the Xmas period.
Incidentally I see that another Record Producers Show is due to be aired over Xmas as well-anyone know the detail of the show. |
