Tony Blackburn played Lazy Day by Spanky and Our Gang this morning, not heard that one in a long while, even Tony said that it's not one they usually play (It's usually Like To Get To Know You). Another all round good show today

Haven't heard all of Tony's programme yet,Foggy, so look forward to that one.

The other week I heard Sunday Will Never Be The Same by Spanky and Our Gang on Boom Radio. I sent it to my son as I thought he'd like it - he loved it! Very Happy

On Boom Radio just now, You and I part 2 Fleetwood Mac. Can't remember when I last heard it. There has been a few good ones this afternoon including Everyday by James Taylor.

Sounded like they have had good listening figure results according to Roger Day as well.

A double choice from me today.

1st up is Camelot by Richard Harris on Boom radio mid afternoon, shame it was from the stage show rather than the film though.

2nd is Because They're Young from Duane Eddy played by Roger Day again on Boom as it's Johnnie Walker's birthday today. I really hadn't heard it in so long and it always reminds me of Johnnie. Very Happy Roger Day is one day older apparently.

Love that Helen.

My Track of the day is from Owen Money's Solid Gold Sunday programme (listened to today) - Follow You Follow Me by Genesis.

It's from the album And Then There Were Three which is one of my all time favourite albums - not a dud on it.

My Track of the Day is from Desert Island Discs and is Double Barrel by Dave and Ansell Collins - one of the choices of Frances O'Grady.

Had a little dance in the kitchen to it - hard not to.

I remember liking the Dave & Ansell Collins track as a kid. And I also bought
And Then There Were Three back in the day.

Scarlet O'Hara by Jet Harris and Tony Meehan on Roger Day's 60s at Six yesterday. He followed it with Billy J Kramer's Bad To Me which I thought went together perfectly.

I had both on 45's back in the day!

Love both of those,Helen.

Saw Jet Harris and Tony Meehan a few times - one of my eldest sisters used to treat me when they were in town. Smile

My Track today is one of Bono's choices on Desert Island Discs. Show Me The Way from Peter Frampton.

Found out a little while ago what produced one of the sounds on that record.

'On the intro to Show Me the Way, he used a device called a talkbox that is hooked up to his guitar which allowed him to create amplified, distorted vocal sounds with his mouth. It is made with tubing connected to a compression driver with the other end going into the performer's mouth.' Smile

Herb Alpert's 'So What's New', just now on Boom radio.

If my memory serves me correctly it was the theme to the tea time show that would have been the predecessor to 'Drive Time' on either the Light Programme of early Radio 2 days. Can remember it being on at home as a child!

My Track of the Day comes from Boom Radio and the Vintage Chart of 1966.

Too Soon To Know, sad but beautiful song from Roy Orbison. Don't know why but I always think of this more of an album track rather than a single.

(Coming in a close second - Mama from Dave Berry - lovely, love sound)

My Track of the Day was heard on Boom Radio this morning. I Believe (in love) a lovely song by Hot Chocolate, a track that I haven't heard for many years.

They have been playing some beautiful music since we had such sad news on Thursday.

I always thought that Errol and Tony Wilson has a great ear for a tune. My fave being Love Is Life, which was their first big hit, I think. I Believe In Love was an early one too, wasn't it?

Great singles band. Loved Emma as well, and No Doubt About It. Just great tunes.

My track of the day has been 'My Resistance Is Low' from Hoagy Carmichael tonight on Roger Day. My parents had it on a 78 and for some reason I didn't mind hearing it on the old radio gram.

Of course Robin Sarstedt had the hit in I think 74.

Quality choice there, H. What a songwriter Hoagy was. I suspect your Dad was a fan of him.

I suspect it was Dad who chose that record for the collection. I can see the disc now (we had it until not that long ago down here) with its black and gold centre! From memory the 'b' side was a wellknown track as well but can't remember what it was. Maybe Stardust?

Oh that's the label alright, thanks Raver! Don't recognise Sacramento but maybe parents didn't like it much. Released the year I was born as well!

The other labels are amazing on that link!

Off topic, but I discovered that my copy of With The Beatles LP was one of the those from the first pressing. Apparently the music publishing credits were changed on the label of the later pressings. I know I had it on the day it was released, the day that JFK was assassinated and the day before I saw the Beatles live.......(History lesson time!). An auction house that I look at the catalogues for their music sales had some 'first pressings' up last year and I got curious and looked up the details. Did wonder about selling??? I think the one I have went for about £50-60. Not bad for something that cost 32/- back in the day.

I hadn't clicked on those other 78's. Wow! I'll have a good look through them.

32/= !! Worth every penny! My brother brought it home one day. I love that album so much. Not a first pressing though.

And a get well soon to Ringo, who has had two loads of Covid in the last two weeks

The JFK bit is possibly why I remember the dates Raver, although I've a very good memory especially for anything unusual.

Track of the day today has a bit of a story to it as to why it's the one for today.

Listening to Claire Teal for the first time in absolutely ages she played a 2 track segway from the film Black Orpheus, the first being Carnival which Cliff Richard had a stab at in 63. The 2nd one is my pick and is 'Samba De Orfeu' by Charles Rouse. I knew the melody and after a few bars I had go to the radio to check the display as I needed to know the title!

The reason it means something to me (I like the tune anyway!) is that I have at least 2 recordings of my Dad playing it and have heard him play it on the Yamaha BUT I've never known the title until today. So thank you Claire!
If I could post a snippet on here I would, but sadly can't, but it's another piece in the puzzle of my mysterious un named recordings that my Dad left.

That's a new one on me, H. Nice. Funnily enough, I saw a tweet from Claire on Sunday morning and thought that I must have a listen, as I've not tuned in for ages, what with the world going mad, etc. But needless to say, I clean forgot!

A track of the day...from a couple of weeks back on Liza Tarbuck's show. One I'd not heard before.

Just A Little Bit - Tiny Topsy

That's one I've not heard before. Funnily I'd not listened to Lisa in ages, like you say since things just seem to have gone mad......., but tuned in on Saturday night.

Found my recording of that Samba today, it was annoying me in case I was dreaming it, and sure enough it was the first in a set he would often play. It would go into Brazil, Quando Quando, Girl From Ipanema and a few others. Liked his Bossa's and sambas!

Today's track is Kiki Dee's 'I'm Gonna Run Away From You' on Dave Brown (sitting in for Roger Day) tonight. I always associated the song with Kiki having seen her perform it in Tyne Tees TV Newcastle studios for a kids/teenager TV show in 66 when some friends from school got an invite to go round there.

I've had Quando Quando Quando as an earworm since seeing this...but the Humperdinck version. Help!

Seriously though, glad you found the recording, H.

I'd never heard the Kiki version of that before Boom came about. The Tami Lynn version was the only one I knew. What a great memory you have with regards to that. Lovely.

At the time of typing. Barry McGuire's Eve Of Destruction has just been played on the afore mentioned. Boom. Or should I say Doom?

It doesn't seem so far away right now.

You couldn't make it up could you! It's not even pantomime season yet either,,,,

Funny you say you always associate that song with Tami Lynn, I'm the other way on as not sure I'd heard hers at the time and of course seeing Kiki too.

Tell you what Dave Brown has been really good sitting in for Roger Day this week 6-8, especially the 60s at 6 more soul tracks. O/H even commented about tracks he'd not heard in years!

3 tracks running right into each other:-
Harry by Catherine Howe, Theme from 'To Serve Them All My Days' by Kenyon Emrys Roberts (?) and lastly You Made Me Love You by Harry Nillson.

Love them all!

Can't think I've ever heard the name Catherine Howe,Helen. The song is very familiar but if I'd have to guess who it was singing it I'd have gone for Anne Murray or Helen Reddy.

Used to love To Serve Them All My Days.

Terry Wogan used to play it Becky, which is I think where I must have heard it a few times. I think one of his grand children was called Harry.

Just googled the song as I was going to say it goes back to the 80s but in fact was released in 1975 and was an Ivor Novello award winner!

Funny how some songs remind us of stations and possibly presenters.

Today's song is 'Hello Little Girl' by the Fourmost on Roger Day this evening. He also played Cilla's 'Love of The Loved' out more or less at the same time.

Song for today - well so far,- 'Christmas Dream' by Perry Como from of course the 'Odessa File'.

Can't recall when I last heard it played on radio and a favourite of mine.

Knew there would be more.... Walk Out To Winter - Aztec Camera just now on Boom
