I know things are far from normal this weekend but do we really need Sunday Afternoon/evening to be identical to Saturday??

From the schedules it appears to be.

Some of it appears to be identical H, while some have been jiggled about. Hard to make sense out of it really. Maybe a reaction to Davie being grilled by the Tories the other week about Union Jack flags. It'll be something to do with them, anyway. Anyone who has read any of my nonsense would know that he's not a favourite with me, but he's feeling the pressure.

Extra sensitive, though. R2 is now resembling contraceptives.

I wonder if there will soon be Union Jack ones...either way, I will hazard a guess that it's indirectly linked to this sort of thing.

Truly, the lunatics have taken over the asylum.

Almost forgot! Here's RT radio schedule link for today (and tomorrow)

Yes they have.

Just something that may, or may not, be broadcast on R4 is Feedback tomorrow. I was hunting on Twitter for something last night and it said they would be discussing the future of radio. I can't remember who was to be interviewed, I don't think it was Davie. Maybe something to look for next week. I'll try to remember to check it out later.

Thank goodness for my pre records and 'listen again' and being behind with it!!!

I know it's a big story and lots to cover... but this is excessive. The same TV content on BBC 1, BBC 2, BBC News, BBC Parliament and S4C (with BBC Four suspended) is daft. Then the same radio content on Radio 4 and 4 Extra is also silly.

I don't think all this clearing of the schedules endears the BBC to people in this day and age, when we can just go off and do other things. I understand things need to be respectful but after the year we've just had a little light relief would also be appreciated.

Mind you, I am amused that they had to pull Steve Wright's Friday show because listeners would have wondered why Tim Smith and the crew weren't mentioning Prince Philip. And then they've dragged Wrighty in today anyway.

Extremely excessive. That's what I meant by over sensitive, but as per, I was as clear as mud.

I couldn't believe it last night, when I tuned into BBC 4. What was the point of that? I'd already seen hours of Philip, who I liked, btw, but I was feeling quite depressed enough. Also, ITV did it better, from what I saw. I prefer their news, too.

So I ended up watching David Bowie Reality tour, which I'd recorded a few weeks ago. That was my light relief. After that, I was ready for another hour of Philip on ITV, where I learned about his stroke of genius on the HMS Wallace.

Who knows what will happen to the monarchy once the Queen goes? There are three words that strike terror into me, when I see things from people who want rid of the Windsors.

President Boris Johnson.

Heaven forbid Raver! I really feel we are sleep walking into a police state by the day. (Sorry, I don't think we're supposed to be political here but......)

Funny you should mention ITV news, we have often switched over lately.

One channel per broadcaster should be given over to events like this and no more.

You're dead right H. We are gradually turning into a police state...just as well we don't have nearly enough police. This is a hopeless and wretched government and certainly the most corrupt in my view and that's saying something, especially with the Cameron thing that seems to be growing right now. Him and Osbourne absolutely ruined us with their austerity policy. Always baffles me how Etonians get voted in time after time. The worrying thing is that they will be doing whatever they like for many years to come. We could hit 200,000 deaths from Covid and they'd still be bulletproof. I can only conclude that these silver spooners go into politics to make fortunes for themselves and all who sail in them. Rotten to the core. I switched to ITV news during Brexit, as they were the ones asking questions, as opposed to the likes of Laura Kuenesburg, who were not. Again, I guess that the BBC were running scared.

Yes, one channel is quite enough. Yesterday's decision was bizarre.

To finish on a musical note...doh!

Yes, it's all very well bringing in these new rules but thanks to 'austerity' there's no-one around to police them. At one point last year my town had no policemen as one of them got Covid so the rest were isolating!

Anyway...

I tried to look at the schedules on the BBC Sounds website but all I can get is today. There's not even any presenter pictures in case their smiley faces disturb our grief. This is ridiculous.

I see what you mean Ian. There's only Phil's face on the day's schedule.

No policemen in Chorley? Sounds like a job for Peter Parker...

On Andrew Marr's Paper Review this morning.

..#BBC had a lot of complaints #PrincePhilip coverage

Helen Lewis(The Atlantic) - "Annoying a lot of people who wanted to watch the MasterChef final is probably better for the BBC that annoying backbench Tory MPs who would then complain about a lack of respect for the Royal Family"

https://twitter.com/ukiswitheu/status/1381159353496055808

I thought the BBC blanket coverage was just ridiculous. I could have understood coverage on BBC1 and the BBC News channel but all of them!! (that's before you start with the radio)

I did however find a couple of the documentaries very interesting especially about Prince Phillip's early life and his family. His mother, Princess Alice ,in particular whose story was featured in one of the episodes of The Crown.

The BBCs reaction is something you would expect from North Korea or the like. I am totally fed up, even the local stations were changed. Hubby has been listening to Boom Radio and I have had Greatest Hits Radio instead.
Luckily we had masses of TV programmes recorded so we have made good use of the time clearing some in the evenings.

We were glad to have loads of recorded programmes to watch as well.

I was flicking around the presets on the radio and managed to find something but they were a bit subdued as well if I'm honest.

Of course next weekend could be the same, at least Saturday.

BBC 'receives 100,000 complaints' that Prince Philip coverage was excessive

A figure of 100,000 would make the coverage of Prince Philip's death the most complained-about piece of programming in BBC history.

God only knows what it will be like when The Queen passes away.

On the day he died every BBC radio station was broadcasting the same programme including local radio and Radio 1.

The irony is that Philip would have hated all this fuss.
