Just after 5pm in the coming week Boom Radio are going to broadcast some of Kenny Everett's radio shows, Kremmen of the Star Core. I thought I would mention in case anyone is interested.

Ha! I'd just put it on after watching Remembrance Sunday.

Love Downtown. Great lyrics from Tony Hatch.

Always try to tune in if I can,Angela.

A real favourite of mine featured in the Sixties chart - He's In Town by The Rockin' Berries. Love Geoff Turton's vocal on it.

Read this on Wiki...An early keyboard player with the group was Christine Perfect, later Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac

I was about to sing the praises of Les Ross, but as I started typing, he's playing a song from Rod Stewart's awful new offering. Why is he speaking like an American, when he's from North London and supports Scotland? I loved Rod back in 1971, when Every Picture Tells A Story was released. Still one of the great albums.

Anyway, the reason I called in, was to say what other station would play You Need Feet, by Bernard Bresslaw. Total joy!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oipBGjMNEAM

And now Over The Rainbow by Eva Cassidy. Beautiful.

I had been tuning in to Boom on the odd occasion and remembered to listen to Roger Day yesterday morning. It's okay, but I really don't need 3 Covid trailers within 1 hour....... So my listening will be curtailed unfortunately!

Too be honest I'm not listening to much radio at all these days as it all annoys me for one reason or another! Sorry for the rant..........

Never apologise for a rant, H. Besides, Roger Day is a right curmudgeon on FaceAche.

I suppose they do have a few too many covid ads, but I'm immune to them.

Just listening to the 1961 chart and Helen Shapiro's Walking Back To Happiness has just been played. I used to think she sang 'Woodbine, oh yay yay'.

Which brings me to Get Back, which is quite something. One more to watch.

But every time George lights another 'ciggy', I think 'Oh don't do it, George'. Everyone smoking like chimneys. It looks so strange now. A fascinating piece of work all the same. Also, the stark realisation that in just over ten years later, John is gunned down. But it's a fantastic labour of love from Peter Jackson.

The Covid ads don't really bother me, I just love having a station which plays music I like with presenters who clearly know their stuff. I really enjoyed the chart of 1961 today.

It's like putting on some comfortable slippers. David Lloyd has grown on me, with his little nuggets of nostalgia. Just the thing to get me over a germ-ridden winter. Keeps my old friend Ray going as well. I often hear his name mentioned. He lives in Leipzig!

The second year on last Sunday's Vintage Charts was 1980 - wasn't going to bother - first one up was Living by Numbers by New Musik which I like so I stayed with it. What a great chart it was - I liked/loved near enough every record that was played. Even the Nolan's In the Mood for Dancing, somewhere in the middle, didn't sound so bad! Wink

I don't know how many he's doing, but Bob Harris has an hour at 9pm on Sunday, repeated 9pm Wednesday) which is very good and brings back memories of his Saturday night shows. He's followed by Bill Bingham, some of whose selection manages to cast the net a bit wider than the Boom norm - we had Oscar Peterson on Hammond organ and an early Kiss track the other night.

When I read this a few days or more ago, I thought that it was such a pity that the listen again had such a short shelf life, as I would dearly love to hear Whispering Bob at a time of my choosing. Wednesday and Saturday evenings being too inconvenient.

To my delight, I have found this morning, that they have reinstated the listen again. There's a David Lloyd from Friday morning, Kid Jensen - which would be a good listen, no doubt - I used to listen to him in the early hours when he was on Radio Luxembourg in the early 70's. He always pronounced Thin Lizzy, Tin Lizzy. Jensen's Dimensions.

Oh, and Bob Harris is on there as well. Must give it a go before it disappears!

I don't know if they're just trialling it, but they've all vanished overnight, as have the numerous references to the facility on its FB pages.

Some shows, including Bob's, I believe, have been put on Mixcloud.

Mine are still here. Nine different programmes, including four from yesterday and two from today.

The only place I find them, is when I expand the Radioplayer window.

I played Bob's yesterday and Roger Day's earlier today.

Odd. They're all back now.

Listening to Bob's show "live" now. It's bliss to my ears.

Nice to know I'm not entirely mad, H !

Bill Bingham is the latest addition, Ron. I'm looking forward to that.

Good to see the listen again is back again, after the storms. Slightly trivial compared to the horrors that Ukraine's old and young are going through, but welcome all the same.

Thanks for that Raver I'm just listening to the Request Show (live) and wondered if it was available on catch up. Great tracks tonight including Coronation Scott, the Paul Temple theme. Mum had it on a 78 so I knew the tune but not Paul Temple until it came on TV in I think the 70s.

Had it on a lot this weekend!

Last week's was on demand H, as I had a brief listen to hear what people were asking for. No sign of yesterday's yet.

I like the John Wilson Orchestra doing Coronation Scot. Had no idea it was the Paul Temple theme, though!

I listen to Paul Temple (a 2006 remake) occasionally on BBC Radio 4 Extra.

Kept faithful (I would think) to the original it's enjoyable in a quaint, old fashioned way, when undemanding listening is the order of the day.

Am really getting into 'the Easy Hour' on Boom. Kicks off at 8pm nightly with no DJ. An eclectic mix, usually a Frank Sinatra (as tonight) which was followed by John Denver. Am usually tidying up or making lists and it's great just to unwind to.

Have ended up scribbling down a few titles to look up and add to a playlist. Maybe I should record it to a minidisc nightly and listen again as I don't think it is on their 'catch up'.

I'd recommend it to the house!

On the few occasions that I've had it on, I thought the music picked was excellent, H. Such a pity that it's not on demand.

So you have my vote !

Vintage charts.

Love the shows of the charts of certain years as you get to hear records you don't hear that often.

An example today, for me,was Someday,One Day by The Seekers.

Judith Durham's voice is so lovely.

Missed that show Becky but I love that track! Reminds me of seeing them at Bridgewater Hall on their farewell tour.

I missed the fact that you saw The Seekers, H. Wow....Judith Durham's voice just does things to my heart.

Anyway...Boom Radio will be opening a new station - Boom Light, which should be pretty fantastic. Doesn't say when, but I'm sure it won't be long. I heard Diddy mention it earlier and had to check to see if I'd heard right.

Sounds like it should be interesting.

That Seekers concert back in 2014 was delayed by about 8 or 9 months Raver as Judith was ill and the whole series was postponed. I'm just so glad I was able to see them though.

Thank god she recovered from it, H. She's had her fair share of misfortune.

I found this a few days ago, but only just watched it. It's an Australian This Is Your Life, featuring Judith. This was well before you saw her and well worth a watch.

Roger Day has just informed his FB disciples that August 14th will be the 55th anniversary of when most of the offshore stations were closed down.

Boom will be paying homage and it's quite a homage, in my humble. Johnnie Walker at 10am, John Peters playing the last Fab Forty at 12. Roger from 2.00, DLT at 4.00 and Keith Skues at 9.00.

I can't wait! Remembering the bank holidays that a few of us - including Helen and Becky, used to listen to a few of them on Radio Essex. You can bet your life that Andy Walmsey will record these for posterity, or at least I hope so, if you see this, Andy!

Raver you beat me to it! I came to post about it as I heard Roger mention it a little while ago.

I do remember that first Pirate anniversary that Radio Essex put on and we were on here listening to it live. I've still got the recordings somewhere on this laptop or on a hard drive. Happy days eh!

Sorry H! Good news has been so scarce lately, that I got over excited!

Those were happy days, that's for sure. Sad that Dave Cash is no longer with us. He'd have played a big part in the anniversary shows. I used to enjoy his Radio Kent chart shows on Radio Kent, with Roger Day followoing him, on Saturday evenings.
