I stumbled across this earlier. It's a repeat from 2011. I'd certainly never heard it before. R2, in it's infinite wisdom, tucked it away for a 3am listen. It's hard to fathom the thinking behind that. I've just listened to it and it's a truly wonderful hour. Sit back, treat yourself and rejoice with one (two) of the greats.

It's so they can put in on BBC Sounds - it needs to be broadcast somewhere, anywhere, first. The problem, of course, is that Radio 2 is now so full of general music shows that there's barely any slots left for anything that isn't just running that week's playlist again. |

I get that, Ian. But I wouldn't have known it existed if I hadn't looked at the schedule this morning. I doubt many people do that.
You're totally right about the general music shows. It's a mess. That's what you get for 'celebs' masquerading as radio presenters. All down to whoever is in charge of these things.
To finish on a positive, I've caught a few Jo Whiley shows these last few weeks. Whatever were they thinking of when they took this slot off her, to create the worst Drivetime since the one before. It's a brilliant piece of broadcasting from someone who loves music and whose enthusiasm for it never wanes. _________________ life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans |

That's a coincidence, I looked at that this morning - there was some good stuff on overnight - an Elbow concert as well as the Simon & Garfunkel programmes.
Will be listening to these during the week. |

Good old Elbow. Until you've seen them do The Loneliness Of A Tower Crane Driver, you haven't lived!
Or hit the heights...

Paul Simon has left the building and Johnnie is now talking to Steve Harley.
I don't know how|I missed it from a few weeks back - must have been that brief sunny Sunday - and it's got a few days before it's taken down. Steve is always a good listen, not just because he's from these parts. Or even that his Dad Ron, was my oldest brother's milkman, back in the late 60's/early 70's!
Steve's music was always original. Loved Sebastian, which was reissued on a b-side, so that was handy when putting money in the jukebox, seeing that it was several minutes long. I can't believe it's 50 years ago, to be honest. Scary.

Didn't know where to put this, but this'll do. Curremntly listening to Sunday's offering with Dark Side Of The Moon celebrating it's 50th birthday.
That's right. 50 years!! Still an amazing body of work. One of the best albums ever, no question.
Roger Waters gets a lot of flak these days, but his songwriting was something to behold.
