A letter in this weeks Radio Times (other listings magazines are available)
puts a dampner on Tel's claims re the voting system for the Eurovision Song Contest. The author of the letter,Gerry McBride of Belfast, has calculated the result of this year's contest discounting all of the votes cast by countries formerly behind the Iron Curtain. So the result from the countries of Western Europe plus Greece, Turkey,Cyprus and Israel is:
1 Serbia (120)
2 Ukraine (106)
3 Turkey (99)
4 Russia (7
5 Bulgaria (76)
The only difference in this result and the actual result is reversal of places of Russia and Turkey.
Makes Tel's theory of block voting affecting the result look a little less secure. _________________ The wheel keeps on turning...

Many a true word spoken in jest! Make it expats of any former eastern- bloc country and the first post in this thread may have a lot of truth in it. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |
