The man who knifed head teacher Philip Lawrence to death has been allowed to stay in the UK after winning an appeal against deportation.
Learco Chindamo, 26, is serving a life sentence for killing Mr Lawrence outside his London school in 1995.

I watched the killers mans Solictor on BBC News 24 saying that he's sorry for what he did. This is a joke the criminal justice system. |

Why? The Appeal Court heard the case and that's the decision that it has arrived at. I have to say that, on balance, they could not really have arrived at any other decision given the mitigating circumstances. So why is the decision "a joke the criminal system" (whatever that means)? |

Why are this man's human rights apparently taking precedence over those of the Lawrence family?

I don't think they are. The Human Rights act applies to everybody so he's entitled to it's protection.

Yes but something needs to change.
This murderer 'broke' the Human Rights Act by killing an innocent man, and will undoubtedly remain a risk to the public. Other law acts like child protection or animal protection can BAN contact with children or animals. There should be a clause in the Human Rights Act that says murderers are BANNED from having freedom or BANNED from living in this country.
Problem: is it true he came to UK when he 6 and no longer has any family? |

I agree, as Mrs Lawrence said on Ch4 tonight, he knowingly stood outside of the law when he murdered Mr Lawrence but now he's using the law to his advantage.
I believe Murderers and Terrorists forfeit their rights when they carry out the deed.
But really, if he was only 6 years old when he came into the UK, is it the right thing to do to send him back to Italy? sounds a little pointless to me. Plus, the point was made on the JV show today that whilst he's in the UK he can be watched. Once in Italy, he's free to do what ever he likes.
He should be in prison for life - not 11 years.
I suppose Cameron will shortly be announcing promises to change the act soon... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07
