Horse racing pundit John McCririck was kicked off a TV chat show after throwing insults at Ingrid Tarrant, the estranged wife of Chris Tarrant.

Ingrid, who split from her TV presenter husband last year, was a fellow guest on The Alan Titchmarsh show when the remarks were made.

McCririck seemed to be angered by a recent interview given by Tarrant, in which she claimed her ex was a bad lover.

McCririck said to Tarrant: "You had a cheek to say that he smelt of vindaloo and fish and chips in bed, what's wrong with that?

"You're such a ghastly woman...that's why he strayed away.

"All I can say is poor old Chris Tarrant, look at what he had to work with if he was bad in bed."

The TV personality was then ushered off the teatime programme by the show's host Titchmarsh who said: "Go on, off you go."

After the incident the gardening expert said: "I was not prepared to listen to one guest on my show being gratuitously insulting to another."

He is very rude towards women.

I suspect you might just be right on that score. Anybody who books that berk onto such a show knowing that his bigotted views are going to spark a row must be aware that it will do the ratings no harm whatever.

It must have worked - the story has hit the media big-time and we're talking about the new Titchmarsh TV show. Not only that, but Mark has chosen to re-post the whole story here, so it must be extra-special.

Good work, PR guys!
