Nothing seems to happen though does it. Same thing with Darfur. The west seems to be embarrased to intervene in case they are accused of colonialism. But the African countries seem pretty useless at sorting it out themselves.
Paddy Ashdown on Question Time last night was pretty useless as well. Kept saying that we cant intervene because of international law. IIRC the only way Rawanda & Uganda crises were solve was when neighbours invaded & deposed the madmen running those countries. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

There can't be any oil in that part of the world. If there was it might be a different story re. intervention. I don't seem to remember many worries about contravening 'international law' when it came to Iraq. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Well there is plenty of gold & oil in Africa & the Iraq situation was a breach of international law in so far as Saddam was in breach of the original UN resolution dating from 1991. Whether a further resolution was required or not has obviously been a contentious issue but not one that can be answered easily. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |
