I have a set of the complete works of Robert Burns in four volumes, first published in 1897. The books are in good condition but don't seem to have any features to distinguish them from similar collections.
I've been wondering what they would be worth today. I realise that these sets could have been two a penny at the time but would still be intrigued to know. Short of waiting a few years till the Antiques Roadshow is on round here again, how could I go about getting them valued?

I'm no expert (in fact I'm not even a novice) and you may already have googled, but I did find this http://www.ilab.org/db/search.php?Author=Robert+Burns&Title=Complete+Works which includes a 1897 edition - can't believe that price, though.
I should imagine you could take them to any auction house or antiquarian bookseller and they would be able to give you an idea. _________________ Ron |

Many thanks for this. Perhaps I'd better not order the second home in Bermuda just yet!

My daughter lived in Bermuda for seven years and we used to go there for a month's holiday each May, to include Bermuda Day on 24th, which is also Bob Dylan's birthdate! Not that I ever saw him there! |
