Yep, Shakey. Already on Pre-order. there's 2 versions being released a standard and delux. The delux comes in a linen cover and a 40 page booklet, the standard comes in normal pagaging and with a 16 page booklet.
Everything you could want if you're a Wilbury fan. Been waiting for this for ages when I learned Jeff Lynne was working on the re-master, my vinyl vol 1 is getting a bit worn. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Ditto.
It must rank as one of the most long-awaited and keenly-anticipated reissues of all time, and puts an end to the ridiculous prices being touted for the originals on eBay and Amazon. _________________ Ron |

Hope I've got this right - do both the standard and deluxe editions come with the 2 CDs and the DVD? I assume that is what I ordered on Amazon the other evening... |

Having looked at Amazon's UK and US sites, and HMVs, both sets contain both CDs and DVD.
Amazon UK do not yet have a price for the limited-edition deluxe, numbered, linen version, but on HMV it's £36.99 (discounted from £59.99), against £11.99 for the bog-standard cardboard-digipak one. Over in the US it's $24.99 against $23.99 _________________ Ron |

Far as I can tell, the contents on the actual discs are the same. The delux set only differs by packaging and expanded booklet.
Funny, I pre-oredered it a while back with play for £17.99 but I now see you can only buy the delux set for 33.99!!!
Pays to get in early! _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Saw the standard one in town tonight as one of the local shops had it out on the shelf early. It is indeed a 3 disc set! |

And here it is....delivered this morning. As you know, I plumbed my hard earned £17.99 down for the delux version and wow what a fantastically well presented box set it is! It comes in a linen covered box. That's nice but I can see a few years down the line threads dissapearing. In fact, I see a stray one now. DO. NOT.LEAVE.NEAR.CATS.
The three discs (2cd and 1DVD) are the shiniest things since shininess began. The expanded booklet is great - detailing the history and includes the linear notes from the original albums and loads of good stuff.
But, also included in an envelope...and within this envelope is 4 pictures and a sticker and an authenticity certificate. Just for the record, mine is 44100.
Oh and by the way, small point - the music is glorius!

I guess it's the background - my main attraction to the Wilburys was the ELO connection - Jeff Lynne. Plus, I'd liked George Harrison's cloud nine album, prodeced by lynne and I'd liked Bob Dylan.
Tom petty had always been on the peripheral back then - heard him, yeah was ok but didn't have any albums (a situation now remedied).
So to me it was the perfect supergroup. Might be considered easy listening but the tunes were so great, just 4 guys messing about with their guitars.
You've got to listen to Tweeter and the Monkeyman, the lyrics tell a great story and Bob sings it at his rasping best. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Sad to say I've only heard the singles but I'm looking forward to getting the albums next week.
Do the albums match each other for quality?
Another couple of questions- how did the band come about?
And did they write the songs as a group or did each member bring their own songs to the table?
Thanks, Gaz. |

Hello Gaz,
I prefer the first album overall but the secon has some cracking songs like 'inside out', 'cool dry place' and 'new blue moon'.
The booklet will explain how they got together, basically, Jeff Lyne was producing George's album, they arranged a jammng session, Bob said "not doing anything, I'll join you" and on a US freeway, Tom Petty came along side jeff and asked if he could join. They all went talked about doing an album with fake names and went to see Roy Oebison and asked him to join their band. happily he did.
They wrote the songs as a group reading magazines for lyrics and generally having a ball.
Enjoy it Gaz and let me know what you think. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Was away at the weekend and when I got home last night I was delighted to see that it had arrived. Like Gaz I was only really familiar with the singles - Handle With Care, End of The Line, Nobody's Child and Wilbury Twist which was actually the only one I bought at the time (on CD). Opened the set up first thing this morning, put on the DVD and watched the documentary - excellent! And unlike many albums which I buy I then sat down and listened to each CD in its entirety - some fantastic stuff there.
Had a look at the deluxe version in town today - it was a bit more pricey at £23 - my only regret is that I didn't buy the one copy that Virgin in Chester had yesterday morning at £20!
Oh and I also picked up the limited edition Handle With Care 7" yesterday in HMV! |

They did come up with some great songs....
And they were the last great supergroup, with, due to their illustrious membership, an appeal that crossed into quite a few generations of music-lovers and musical styles _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy! |

I ordered this for my husband as a Fathers Day present from our daughter. As this week has been a bit fraught (she is unwell and had to be brought home from Uni - and no, for once it's not anything to do with drink!) so I was a bit late ordering it.
I placed a fast order wih Amazon and was told it would arrive today. It did - but the postman turned up in the half hour we were out and daughter, bring unwell in bed, was too slow to catch him and even though my neighbours were in, he didn't knock there
We're celebrating Father's Day on Tuesday when it is re-delivered!

Just had a chance out of my hectic life to watch the DVD and I totally agree - just mates having a laugh and making tunes. Loved the laughter at "Trembling Wilbury" and watching them play 'Ghostriders in the sky' in the kitchen.
Will we ever see the like again, I can't for the life of me think, out of today's plastic pops, who could be the next supergroup.
Unless 20 producers and session musicians made the music and pretty boys sung lyrics they didn't understand.
The Wilburys image was of 5 guiarts standing in their racks, perhaps the new group would just have 5 stools....plastic stools of course. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Shakey, try also Tom Petty - Full Moon Fever - this was produced by Jeff Lynne just prior to the Wilburys volume 1 (but released after) and anything by jeff lynne.
Unfortunately, it looks like his first solo album "Armchair Theatre" has been deleted but many regard ELO - Zoom as the second Jeff Lynne solo album.
Cheers,
