That could be his career down the pain? I can't understand how these top players can't control themselves? |

Most likely the other pending serious charges on his record precluded him from getting bail, Mark. |

Granted that there seems to have been provocation in this case, Mr Barton's activities don't seem designed to enhance the reputation of Newcastle United. Don't forget that this isn't an isolated incident. And I don't see how he can concentrate properly on his game if he is occupied by external matters of this kind (heaven knows, the team needs everyone on top form right now).
If I were on the team's board, I'd be calling for all necessary contractual steps to be taken to terminate his employment in the event of his being found guilty of the current charges, even if financial loss were involved.

You'd think he'd have learned his lesson and tried to stay out of trouble, whatever the provocation, Ian. Trouble is, he seems to be a thug dressed up in the questionable veneer of a professional footballer. We do pick them - Lee Bowyer was another one but thankfully he was peddled.
Sam seems to have lost the dressing room at the moment - Mike Ashley's a brave man for continuing to spectate from the stands but at least he'll be getting the fans view of things directly. Wouldn't like to have to make the decision as whether to sack Big Sam and try to find someone else or risk slipping into relegation battles come end of the season....
And Mark Mayhew, our resident Chelski supporter - that second goal was a belated Christmas pressie from the linesman, wasn't it! _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Couldn't agree more Ian. Whatever possessed them to buy him in the first place? As you say he's a thug and always will be.

Hi Cherskiy-Indeed the second goal was a gift from Santa-Kalou was well offside. |
