Classic BBC sitcom Fawlty Towers has been named the most iconic TV comedy show of all time, in an online survey.

The show, in which John Cleese played exasperated hotel owner Basil Fawlty, received almost a third of the 3,000 votes cast in MSN Entertainment's poll.

I would say yes it is. Shame they only made a dozen of so? They should do a one off special now?

"most iconic TV comedy show of all time" Shocked that's a little sweeping isn't it? great programme and I love every episode ( particularly the fire drill one Laughing ) but of all time?
all down to personal preference but Dad's Army would be close and Bilko for me too.
Shows how thinly spread female comediennes are if Vicar of Dibley was voted best female character.. Rolling Eyes

Make a new one off? nah, leave it to memory, I don't like Cleese nowadays anyway .

I agree - Fawlty Towers was one on its own, but its humour belongs in the past. I find it pathetic when comedians try to recreate characters from the past, it never works and it leaves the viewer feeling faintly embarrassed. Embarassed

Fawlty Towers was great Laughing But they should definately not make anymore, not even a one off special. Look what happened to only fools and horses when they ended it 'forever' then brought it pack again, those episodes were dire.
Keeping it in the past means it will always be a classic.
