Jonathan Ross has purchased a £40,000 marble bathtub as part of a huge transformation of his North London home, a report claims.
The Daily Mail suggests that Ross, who is on an £18 million contract with the BBC, has spent nearly £500,000 on making his property perfect.
Alongside the bathtub, which weighs nearly three-quarters of a ton, is a toilet with a remote-controlled seat, the report suggests. Following advice from an interior designer, he is also said to have splashed out on a button-operated cupboard which rises from the floor, as well as gold leaf - costing £150 per square metre - to cover his skirting boards and picture rails.
A source told the newspaper: "It is absolutely amazing inside. It is like he said, 'This is exactly what I want - money is no object'. It must have cost hundreds of thousands of pounds. The whole place is amazingly ostentatious and fun."
Ross and his wife Jane Goldman purchased their home for £2.5 million eight years ago. Their expensive redesign is believed to have taken over a year to complete

Well you can take most of what the Daily Mail prints with a pinch of salt. Yet another example of sensationalist journalism in practice.
A marble bath weighing three quarters of a ton would be impossible to manhandle into a property and if installed on a first floor would require serious structural work below to allow support of the alleged bath.

JR is far too intelligent to come up with a thoughtless quote like this. He is well aware of the furore surrounding his well publicised pay deal.
It really annoys me when people use the "I pay my licence fee" argument. By the time your 100 and whatever it is quid gets passed around all the departments of the BBC, such as paying for all the other staff, radio departments, news programmes, fantatsic drama series and everything else it is so watered down that it barely contributes a squilionth of a pound towards JRs wages.
I wouldn't say that he is worth 18M but I have no problem with paying my squillionth of a quid to fund his alleged lifestyle |
