|
|
The revolting Russell Brand & Jonathan Woss crossed all bounds of aceptability & indeed legality by leaving repeated abusive, obscene and threatening voicemails on the answerphone of Andrew Sachs. They compounded this with slander & then broadcast it all on the radio
This is the audio equivalent of the mis-named "happy slappy" antics of yobs in town centres onb a saturday night
Lesley douglas, head of Radio 2, personally aproved the show & said that it should be broadcast
She is thus an accesory to a crime & should be prosecuted. |

Its only Slander if its not true though
Nobody was threatened in any of the phone calls, it was a prank call, they realised they had done wrong, tried to ring back to apologise and kept digging themselves in even deeper.
It was very funny and judging by comments I have seen in various papers and other Internet Message Boards there are many out there that believe that this whole thing has been blown completely out of proportion _________________ Chris Evans' Breakfast - doesn't sound quite as good as Chris Evans' Drivetime but good nonetheless! |

I would imagine stating that the recipient of the call is going to be hanged is quite threatening
BTW, Mr Sach's granddaughter says that Brand was not much cop in the sack |

As to the slander bit, it is clearly untrue that Andrew Sachs would hang himself as a result of the call
So that is slander |

By Mr Sach's granddaughter, I assume you are referring to the self-proclaimed Satanic Slut?
I have no idea what Mr Brand is like in bed or have any cause to find out so I really don't see what that has to do with it _________________ Chris Evans' Breakfast - doesn't sound quite as good as Chris Evans' Drivetime but good nonetheless! |

If you're going to start bringing up Max Clifford's obvious storytelling this early in the discussion you're on very shaky ground.
Andrew Sachs is the only person with any right to complain, and if he doesn't want to bring charges then that should be the end of it. |

Because Mr Brand has made his entire career out of stating how many women he's "bedded". He's a one trick pony. And if he's not even any good at that... |

Andrew Sachs wanted his complaint to the BBC to be taken seriously. If his request to the BBC NOT to broadcast the abusive calls had been listened to, none of gthis would have happened |

The damage has already been done. Two resignations and one suspended, why cause more hardship?
The station is feeling grim at present and needs to start and lift itself up. Adding more fuel to feed the fire won't help things? I think it's best now to let it all blow over? |

because what they did was illegal ? surely OFCOM need to regulate and the police consider the case.
as to lifting itself up it needs to sort itself out. |

If this had happened on independent radio, both Ross & Brand would have been fired first thing in the morning
The BBC dithered, & this has cost it alot.
Both MTV & XFM lost no time in firing brand after minor indiscretions
It took R2 over two weeks to act after a major breach of the guidelines |

If Sachs had clearly requested the calls were not to be broadcasted, maybe they wouldn't have? He didn't even listen to them until the Mail On Sunday played him a tape! By which time, Brand had already apologised on Radio 1. |
