With the return of Ross on Saturday, the question is: Have you missed him? |

I voted no, not at all...
I think the shows that replaced his were pretty dire apart from Danny Baker but without Ball next time please!
If we'd had Mark Lamarr or Radcliffe then I'd have been a happy bunny.
I believe Ross should have stood down. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

To my mind they should have either left Richard Allinson in that spot, or if that wasn't possible, given the gig to Ross' regular stand-in Mark Lamarr. Sorry but there's no way I could Stand even one hour, never mind three hours of Baker with or without a sidekick. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Not even the tiniest iddy biddy biddy bit. In fact, his return fills me with a due sense of dread. Having said that, if other people like his work, and they choose to listen to him- so be it. |

If only there was an option that said "never in a million years!!"
The BBC have lost the opportunity to get rid of this enormous overpaid under-talented ego, and as usual it's us who must foot the bill. _________________ MiS |

This is a clean sweep so far on this poll with all voters saying they haven't missed him. I expect the first shows will have a big audience out of curiosity, but whether they will drop off after that remains to be seen. The Daily Malevolent will be hoping he messes up again, I expect. |

I personally think he should have left Radio 2. He's going too over shadow the network. I think he should continue with his BBC TV shows and Michael Grade should snap him up at the end of the season. He's over paid and very arrogant. Whether his argument someone should have listened to the recording before it was aired. At the end of the day he was involved.

Ross is a clever, charismatic and clear broadcaster. He has spent the last twenty years developing a persona that has become familiar without becoming boring, and always shows genuine respect for those in his business with talent. He is neither arrogant nor chauvinistic and I honestly believe that when people level these adjectives at him, they are missing the joke. He appears as a family man at heart, and those who listen to him on a regular basis recognise this. It's a shame that, possibly due to the size of his paycheck, certain parts of the press have managed to shade his image wrongly. His reputation now preceeds him, but it's far from the real truth of Ross. We're lucky to have him.
I just wanted to be clear on my opinion here |

I think he used to be very appealing because he was the new boy on the screen.
I enjoyed his upstart approach and risqué chat but lets face it he's been playing the new kid for too long now and he's become predictable, crass, big headed and frankly, sometimes embarrassing imo, particularly on his radio show.
I think he relies totally on being "arrogant and chauvinistic" _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

No not at all but 14 votes cast only-somehow I don't think the BBC/Ross are going to be too worried just now. |

Well 3/18 is very nearly 17% leaving a massive 83% not missing him at all. Do a quick RAJAR manipulation on that, then do a kind of psychosomatic overlay onto the listener-base- extrapolate and interpolate the result, then seasonally adjust it, to take account of the poor economic circumstances - then double it on the way up to the bosses office- cos it looks so bad- you might just make a few thousand listeners.... |

Strange Mark how you wanted Richard Allinson to take over him when he covered. |

....which is why I voted that I have not missed him at all.
Richard Allinson certainly covered for Ross very well for the 3 weeks he was asked to. |

Why do you have to be sarcastic and add " He was asked to" at the end of your sentence? |

Excellent article.. my feelings exactly, particularly these parts...
"The incredulous look on Fonda’s face was of the ‘what’s going on in this country?’"
"The BBC continually gives the audience what it thinks we want and are capable of appreciating: childish and crude chit-chat."
And this applies to me...
"So when an opportunity presented itself to the public to let the BBC know "what we think of its scheduling and its big media stars, a substantial minority of people went for it." _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Hmmm.
Strange how every newspaper seems to have managed to get a reporter in, "undercover", to witness, report on, and give maximum publicity to, the show.
So the same rag which took the high moral ground and effectively orchestrated all the fuss to begin with, now gives prime space to his return, taking delight in the fact that, really, nothing has changed, apart from the likelihood that the television audience tonight will hear a few more bleeps.
The queue of celebrities eager to promote their latest film, book or tv series on his show is seemingly undiminished - the cost of seven minutes innuendo and abuse is nothing so long as the exposure helps get bums on seats in the cinema. His fans and audience will also be undiminished - those of us embarassed by his crudity and his humiliation of some of his guests deserted that BBC1 slot long ago _________________ Ron |

I wouldn't watch it if you paid me, and anyone who guests on it is diminished in my eyes.
The man is just unpleasant, and whilst I'm sure viewing figures will be inflated (rubbernecking tendencies abound in this country ) I'm equally sure that anyone with an ounce of decency will look elsewhere.
..and as for the Daily Wail, well words fail me! _________________ MiS |

I haven't missed him 100% but have missed having a good show on a saturday morning, wev'e had to suffer absolute rubbish.
If they'd find a good replacement for him I wouldn't mind but from recent R2 carry ons that isnt likely.
Overall YES |

I was looking for the option that said "Who?" - sadly there wasn't one.
Haven't missed him at all. Won't be listening on Saturday mornings now, first time the radio gets switched over to R2 is when Gambo comes on (I'm finally remembering to do so!). _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Unfortunately, I missed out on the chance to vote. However, I missed him neither from TV Nor radio, It 's a pity that they had to drag Baker amd Ball in. My views on these are well noted elsewhere. _________________ Geddon

So, Ross comes back to radio with vile comments about an old woman, and Brand says he sleeps with 80 women a month.
What charming people Lesley Douglas thought were appropriate for Radio 2!! _________________ MiS |
