I listen to Joe Fish on the above station on Sunday from noon to 2pm. This a Country Music programme and is usually very good indeed. None more so than this week's when I had three tunes played for me by George Jones ('4033') Connie Smith ('Tiny Blue Transistor Radio') and Lorne Green ('Ringo'). I didn't know that Johnny Paycheck sang harmony on the George Jones song, and on lots of other early tracks. Connie Smith is one of the very best female Country singers and recorded many songs written by Bill Anderson. Lorne Green played Ben Cartwright in 'Bonanza' the long running TV series.
Joe Fish is on his travels again for the next month so Eleanor Levin is sitting in and she does a good show too. |

Ah, my local station! I listen frequently, and was even on the Breakfast Show podcast a few weeks back!
I think a few people on here would enjoy Gerald Jackson's "Unforgettable" on Monday nights at 7pm. Lots of old music that I would expect Radio 2 to be playing somewhere, and a friendly host.
Just avoid Drivetime - the presenter (Brett Davison) is considerably more annoying than Chris Evans! |

Now come on, let's be realistic. It's not possible......... is it?????
BTW, I understand that ChorleyFM ("Coming in your ears") is the station of choice around your parts, is it not? _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

I was on that the other week too! But it's signal doesn't go all the way to where I work (and the breakfast host does my head in) so I don't listen that often. |

And is their strap-line really "Coming in your ears"? _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

Er... no. It's something like "Real Local Radio"
When the council's Arts Officer decided to start a community station, he thought it would be very clever to nick the name from Peter Kay/Phoenix Nights. It was possibly the biggest mistake they made - Peter Kay tried to sue, and everyone still judges it as a laughing stock.
Never mind, the Arts Officer left Chorley in disgrace and is now working on some Lottery-funded Olympic tie-in in London. Lovely... |

Joe Fish has just won the award for Best International Country Music DJ, in Nashville! Well done Joe! Eleanor Levin has spoken to Joe from Music City. Joe said that though he is not a fan of Carrie Underwood's music per se, she is a very kind and patient lady with her fans. I saw her at the Opry in 2005 and she was the equal of many of the 'old timers' on the bill that night. |
