We've got used to many sights along the canal towpath/river banks - cyclists, horses, hikers, buzzing bikers - but today marked a first. We were having a sleepy breakfast on the Midi when activity on the towpath caught my eye. Round the bend came a group of soldiers, about 20 in all, marching along with backpacks, all nationalities, African, Caucasian, Asians.... all totally stony faced and ignoring our friendly waves.
Then, minutes later, another group of the same, these wearing green berets and carrying guns, equally stony faced. Again, no smiles, no acknowledgements. And then blow me! a third group. At least the last one gave us a bit of a grin!
And we were miles from anywhere. _________________ Minx

I was trying to listen to Sean Keaveney on R6, but it didn't do it for me. I hate it when people fade the music, say something, bring it back up, fade it, say something etc........ He's seemed so much more sensible when he's covering on R2. _________________ Minx
