That's good news indeed, but spare a thought for BBC Asia's listeners, that's still facing the axe. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

What is now required is a vast improvement in the engineering standards of DAB in order that more people can receive 6Music properly. At the moment, the reception quality of 6Music is dire across much of the UK.
DAB uses compressed, high-frequency transmissions that are not only highly directional but can't reliably penetrate building structures. We shouldn't be forced over from analogue FM (in the case of stations like BBC Radios 1-4 and local services) to DAB until these issues have been fully resolved.
Will the piggies learn to fly first, one wonders? |

Not only that but also until all parts of the UK can recieve DAB. At present there are still some parts where it's unavailable. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

That's what I was implying when I wrote "At the moment, the reception quality of 6Music is dire across much of the UK".
But, yes, you're right. It's an appalling situation that has been driven by political expediency (a government wanting to free up airspace in order to maximise the potential for the sale of bandwidth to the highest bidder) and which is unacceptable. |
