Would the computers not be networked on the same server so that the same music is available in all the studios?

I think the music has to be loaded into the computers for each show to tell the DJs what to be played? I think there is a section on the radio 2 website where it tells you what equipment is in the studios?

Wossy's show was hilarios on Saturday for all the wrong reasons, They had a group come in to do a live session, but there was an open mike somewhere and you could hear them talking while a record was on, sadly it was not loud enough to make out what was being said.
Then as the record ended Andy spotted that they were going out and played another record while they tried to sort it, This meant that when the record ended there was "dead air" for 5 seconds, they told us that they were moving to another studio and played another record.
Eventually they came back on air, they had moved studio twice as the second one did not work!
They were now in Fiona Fudges studio with no room for the group (The Guillimots I think) so they had to leave and come back next week.
Hilarious stuff, I wonder if is available on "listen again", All this occurred about 12:15 pm so thats about 2hours 15 mins in.

Ah, live sets.... I like the Guillemots, having heard them on Bob Harris's show a few times before they started getting regular airtime on R2.

BH had Angie Palmer on the middle hour of his Saturday show (well, 12-1 this morning, really). She's used to live sets - she started as a street performer and has played gigs in people's lounges before - but ended up having a coughing/choking fit at the end of one tune, prompting BH to ask whether she wanted a glass of water! She also couldn't quite get the 'footsteps' as audible as she would have liked at the start of another, forcing her to stop the intro, explain herself and then start again. Poor lass, I really felt sorry for her, but at least she maintained her composure.

I'm still intent on buying her 'Road' and 'Tales of Light and Darkness' albums, though.... she's got a great voice and a small but loyal following. Another UK singer-songwriter who is probably best described as a 'slow burner'. That's two good sets in the last few weeks on the BH show - her and Lisa Redford.

Why is the BBC studio equipment so unrelable? I've never heard of the frequency of breakdowns on any other station. Birmingham studios crash quite a lot when Janice Long is presenting as well so it is obviously something widespread across a number of locations.

Robbing the maintenance budget to pay the inflated salaries? Question

Well the studios should be state of the art since they only moved in last year.

The Radio 2 ones do seem to break down quite a lot. I never hear Capital Radio one break down as much as the BBC ones. I reckon there must be a bug in the digital equipment?

I think it may have something to do with the amount of food and drink consumed in the BBC studios over live studio equipment.

Think about it:

Aled Jones, Terry Wogan, Ken Bruce drinking champagne on Friday
Ross regularly eats breakfast on air
Terry & underlings regularly work through a full fry up every morning
Chris cooks in the studio on a Thursday evening.

I wouldnt be surprised if the crubs get lodged in the desks.

You could quite clearly hear Rossy have a rant along similar lines, while a record was playing.

It wasn't much better in the old studios the Cd players seemed to be skipping or breaking pretty regularly Sad

That was Steve Wright skipping them to make out the whole show was live.

Talking about JR - anyone remember the time he interviewed Danni Minogue and asked about her 'puppy fat' and she got really stroppy? Hilarious Very Happy
