Please don't jump on me for saying this, but Morton's vocals are sounding decidedly shaky to me these days, even on the single.

I enjoyed their rendition of Say Hello Wave Goodbye, but it was no different from Soft Cell's original. David Gray's accoustic cover was also very good of course, and so different.
I did find Ken a bit over the top with his non stop effusive praise though. He must have said 'brilliant' and 'wonderful' about a hundred times. It wasn't that good. Pass the sick bucket.
As for the vocals apparently being a bit shaky, well Morton is a quarter of a century older than when the band first burst onto the scene!

He ain't arf playing some good music this morning! Less than half an hour in and he's played Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Dina Carroll, Taste of Honey.

Soulsis: I haven't listened to KB much this week but, from what I have heard, the music has been better than usual. Less cheesy and bland.

I said on another thread that I suspected the usual producer is away on his hols. Sure enough, when KB today named the producer for this week it was indeed someone else!

Let's hope Gary Bones is off for another week.

Schiz - haven't had a chance to listen since the other day, but there was a definite improvement, not imagined. As you know I like Ken, mainly the features and his general laid back presenting style and partially (despite how dire the playlist was) there would always be a couple of gems in there - for me personally anyway - usually a soul track it must be said. I've got a huge collection of music and very often I'd find myself going and dusting off some old album on the basis of something I heard on Ken's show. But I do agree with you - generally it's pretty bland, it would only ever be the odd track or two. However that particular show was exceptionally good all the way through. Whether or not the standard has been maintained I don't know?

I agree, SS. I like his wry sense of humour. He's the sort of guy who I'd like to have a regular drink with in the local pub and we'd sort out the world's problems.

Phil Collins chose some pretty good songs on Tracks Of My Years: Dusty, Beatles, and The Ronettes' Do I Love You which wasn't a big hit and which you never hear on the radio.
Let's hope he doesn't do covers of them.
