According to the Sunday Telegraph, caretaker manager Joe Kinnear is already on a touchline ban, which dates from his time as Nottingham Forest manager and had never been served out.

The BBC was also obliged to apologise when JK uttered a naughty little word in a live TV interview.

And yesterday, of course, the team went down 2-1 to Blackburn.

To exhume an expression from my youth, talk about losing two bob and finding sixpence.

Ian.

I dont think the touchline ban matters much really.

I was amazed yesterday at some of the vox pox comments from fans outside of the stadium saying they didnt know who Joe Kinnear was. They can't be very knowledgeble about football then if that is the case.

Kinnear was the 19th choice according to some papers (18 managers turned the job down). A few said they would rather manage the US economy than Newcastle Utd Laughing

They're fans of Newcastle United - why would they know anything about football? Wink

Newcastle United has a massive, enviable army, of deeply passionate, genuinely local supporters, the like of which other football clubs can only dream of. It is without doubt, the largest local football club on this, or any other planet. To be held by and comforted in the arms of the Toon Army- an army fortified with unrivalled commitment and dedication powerful enough to turn its fearsome mountainous men to tears at the blow of a final whistle, is a real privilege. It’s a big river, it’s a big football club- they’ll be back on top before you can say “ giza pint of Five Nil please marra”…

It was funny seeing the picture of Joe Kinnear at the tunnel not allowed onto the pitch after his previous ban before becoming unemployed. Laughing Blimey he's aged since the days at Forest. I know he turned around Liverpool, but around 8 games with International breaks between I hope he can do the same at the Toon? He does seem passionate and wondering if he privately approached the club? After that will he be kept in employment is a worry.

The fans really want Keegan.

Yeah Mark, the Dons Rolling Eyes

I notice the Sunday Mirror claiming:

>>
Sunday Mirror Sport has a copy of letter that the FA's disciplinary department sent to Kinnear in January 2005.

It clearly states that Kinnear was banned for two games and fined £2000 for misconduct. But crucially, the touchline ban was until "Nottingham Forest have completed two first-team matches".

So Kinnear has served his time.
He's in the clear and should have been on the bench to witness Newcastle lose his first game in charge.

He admitted: "I got the ban for calling a ref Coco the Clown."

And beneath all the clowning there is a growing sense of despair in the Geordie Nation.

"Ashley, he's the one who cleared the debt," Kinnear insisted on the BBC show Football Focus before the game. "He's put the money in. He's the one who's got Newcastle out of the s**t!"

The Beeb hastily put out an apology for the swear word, but the damage was done. Since King Kev walked out, Mike Ashley has been Public Enemy No.1.

Sorry to say I can see Newcastle United having a relegation battle this saeson along with Tottenham Hotspur.

Both clubs are in dire straits.

Will be interesting to see what happens at both of these clubs over the next couple of months.

Clearly john, we all know Ashley has put the club into meltdown, and so do the fans staying away from the stands and St James. We know the fans want Kevin to return. I hope he does when Ashley sells?

It was awlful to hear Chris Hughton was sacked as Manager. The management want a more experienced person for the job. He really did a good job promoting the club. Peter Beardsley has taken charge for the time being. Martin O'Neil could be tempted.

I think its a big mistake considering how many coaches they have managed to get through in recent years

What is needed is a reasonable period of stability and as a Liverpool fan I would say the same applies to my team

I don't give a monkeys about Premiere-level football (it's a multi-million pound business, pure and simple) but I think it's bit rich that a club that gets through 8 managers in 6 seasons places all the responsibility for failure on the coach himself.

To my thinking (naive though it may be), the guys kicking the ball around on the field are ultimately responsible for the lack of balls being projected into the opponents' net?

Or is that being overly-simplistic?

This club have yet again fallen into the trap of "they used to be good" Chris has got them promoted and this years plan should have been survival not Europe or anything stupid like that.
He was going to secure their place in the league and yes it may have been tight at the end of the season but they only just got promoted. come on.

I hope they go down now

Is he really worth that much money not had a whole season in the premier yet? yes he's good 30m? no
going off the game more and more as the years go by, there seem no attempts to do anything about these over inflated prices and wages don't get me started.

I know he was injured last week and wants to leave this week. Very strange. It's player power again, or Ashley wanted to see how much money he could get for him working with AC agent.

As a Liverpool fan I think he's worth about 25million and Torres is worth about 40 million

As has been said these prices are over inflated but at least Liverpool are now back to competing with the big boys in the transfer stakes

It's easy to say that no player is worth £30 million or whatever, but if a club is willing to pay that sort of money then he is worth it. It's supply and demand.
If clubs here don't pay those sums, the players will go to equally rich clubs in Spain or Italy.

Oh I agree but would that be an all together bad thing ? It's time EUFA and FIFA step in. The game is just so over inflated money wise, but they are not likely to as they do quite well on the same gravy train.
It's not the players fault why shouldn't they earn that much money if people are stupid enough to pay it, I know I would if offered.

No main league in any country can survive without their respective lower tiers, at this rate one by one the biggers clubs will move away from the lower leagues and to be fair the bottom half of the top leagues.

Personally I don't give a toss how much money clubs pay for ridiculous transfer fees. They are, of course, businesses like any other so who am I to comment?

However, let's not forget that it's members of the public who seem willing to pay highly-inflated ticket prices - and that's without mentioning the high cost of branded merchandising.

It's the so-called "fans" that are funding the whole system, so let them get on with it. That's what I say!

Personally, I get more enjoyment out of watching the kids' Sunday League games on a field we have to pass when we walk to the pub. You get more goals, that's for sure! (And it's free).

Great come back against Arsenal on Saturday 5/2/11. They were 4 - 0 down at half time with some fans walking out, they came back with a draw. Who needs Andy Carroll.
