It's not often that I'm taken by a modern song... but I really do like Adele's track "Rolling in the Deep"... a good, solid, driving beat.
( I sound like a panel member on Jukebox jury! )
To be honest, I'm proably more taken by the backing singer's part... it's just great stuff. If her other stuff is like this, I can feel a purchase coming on...

I bought her last album SFF, it was terrific. ( I've been searching high and low for it this week.)There's another one due out in January. I particularly like 'To Make You Feel My Love' which is a great arrangement and rendition. _________________ Minx

Rolling In The Deep is indeed a good song. I too love the backing vocal, it's sort of 60s Motown-ish.
Good new songs like this is really the only reason for listening to Radio 2 in the daytime. The much criticised playlist of new releases certainly beats the usual dross (ELO, Barry White etc). |

I'm not familiar with much of her music. But I love her version of To make you feel My Love, which I have now downloaded. Quality. I will investigate more of her music |

Did anyone notice Someone Like You was played at the end of the Grand National coverage (BBC-1) last Saturday?
The '19' album's getting a lot of play in the Hawker's Green cafe at Headingley Enterprise & Arts Centre, where I'm on reception on Monday mornings. When 'Chasing Pavements' comes on I feel as though I should change the title to 'Chasing Payments', as my boss is rather slow at making out cheques for expenses! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

Yes I noticed that Avid but I couldn't help thinking they might have been better off playing 'That'll be the Day that I Die'
I went to Aintree last Thursday and thoroughly enjoyed it but last Saturday was indeed a very sad day for all animal lovers _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Ruddlescat, are you referring to Buddy Holly's 'That'll Be The Day' or Don McLean's 'American Pie'? _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

Either would have been fine Avid
I just think we've reached the point where as a nation we have to think very seriously whether the Grand National should be allowed to continue in its present form as this is only the most recent of many meetings where animals have died unnecessarily
I'd like to see the race continue but with smaller fences and with a similar atmosphere to that which surrounds the Cheltenham Festival
I don't see how people can complain about bull fighting in other countries (which I detest) and then support a British event which deliberately puts the lives of horses at risk _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Ruddles, I agree, I'd like to see lower fences and a shorter run in at the end, which is like a flat race in itself.
Anyway, back to the thread. I'm listening to Adele's 21 at the moment. What a wonderful album!
Favourite tracks: Rolling In The Deep, Set Fire To The Rain, One And Only (sublime), Lovesong and Someone Like You.
The album of 2011. |
