Former number one golfer Seve Ballesteros has died at his home in Norhern Spain, he was 54. In 2008 he was diagnosed with a brain tumour in after losing consciousness at Madrid Airport.

He was one of the most important players responsible for reviving the fortunes of the game of golf in Europe following years of domination by the American greats
He had some great Ryder Cup success and was a very competent commentator on the sport after his best playing days were over
He will go down in the annals of golf as a true legend and he will be sadly missed by everyone _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I heard an extremely eloquent and heartfelt tribute to Seve on 5 Live this morning from the sportswriter Bill Elliot ...here he is writing about Seve in today's Guardian....
