What a crazy decision by SouthWest Trains. This man's sole objective was to prevent a serious train accident by daring to venture onto the line, after he had been told that the electricity had been switched off, in order to remove a supermarket trolley. The next train was due in 30 minutes.

It seems that if he had gone through the “proper channels” the correct “operatives” would have had to travel 25 miles from Eastleigh to remove the trolley.

Elfin Safety triumphs yet again over common sense and the poor man, who has won many awards for managing his station, has lost his pension and his mortgage payment protection insurance.

Yes a completely ridiculous decision

There's just no common sense in Britain any more

I'm totally fed up with the attitudes of health and safety people and the whole nanny state which now seems to want to regulate our every move

I'm not surprised so many people want to emigrate

It is typical of Stagecoach I am afraid...........I know them of old and have many first hand examples of their atrocious behaviour.
