Now it's that awful time of year, anybody booked or thinking of booking a holiday yet?
Do tell, may cheer us up.
I'm going to Greece, Alonissos, to be exact, altho' to placate any TOGS, its real name is Liadromia. |

Going back to the cottage on Orkney I stayed in last year - I still have a few islands up there yet to visit (Rousay, Westray, Eday and Shapinsay). _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

We have booked a cottage at a place called Field Dalling in Norfolk _________________ Geddon

Munchen is brilliant, so much to do and see, wonderful museums, beir kellars and public transport. Only problem I had was getting a veggie or fish meal in most bars, cafes and restaurants.

Was in Budapest just after the 'Fall of the Wall' - a great city back then, food and drink was reasonably good and exceedingly cheap, everyone was really curious yet friendly to Westerners (probably I had some kind of novelty value), you could haggle the taxi drivers down to ridiculously low charges and not fear of them being mafia-controlled, although the telephone operators in the hotels still routinely listened into conversations you had with people outside the country. Some habits died hard....
(And from my point of view, waving a few dollars about got me around places I'd never dreamed about as an aviation photographer....! ) _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

I think it was windy everywhere on Thursday.
We will probably plump for Cornwall for our hols this year, it's been 3 years since we last went so we'll probably visit the Eden project again. |

I can't wait for summer 3 months of fun, freedom, flip flops, sun, travelling and shorts. No more dark, cold rainy nights - oh, and ice cream _________________ I was trying to daydream, but my mind kept wandering. |

We've just been to Berlin for a few days so I doubt if we'll be far for a while. We tend to book several spur of the moment midweek breaks or short trips via the internet travel agents. As we live in Holland, we usually opt for Germany, Belgium, France - within a reasonable driving distance. So we don't take the traditional two week holiday. _________________ Friends may come and friends may go, but enemies tend to accumulate. |

I've spent endless hours on't 'net trying to think of somewhere to go but nothing has grabbed me so far. Can't decide between Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, Baltic states........
We don't do resort holidays, prefer something a little bit different (went to Jordan followed by a few days in Paris last year) but I work in a school so can only go late July & August and some of the best trips I've found don't go during those times! Or, they are VERY expensive!
Hubby rather fancies another escorted or coach tour or similar so that he can just sit back and enjoy. Any advice or experiences of particular companies would be very welcome. _________________ "I'm a firm believer in not having to play the hand you're dealt." |

When we lived in the UK we did a couple of coach holidays with Wallace Arnold who were (at that time) absolutely excellent. Good hotels, nice food, reasonable prices and they don't charge for single room occupation. They also cover the continent as well as the UK. They are the only coach company I have had any experience of however! _________________ Friends may come and friends may go, but enemies tend to accumulate. |

Well, that's two of us, Nat - I'm quite partial to a walk in the country on a clear, crisp, frosty morning and I like watching lightning - trouble is, we only ever seem to get sheet lightning nowadays. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

You get used to inclement weather walking up in the hills, and the land looks its greenest and lush-est immediately after a rain shower. I don't particularly like getting caught out in a hailstorm although it's happened a few times when I've been miles from anywhere. I'd do some walks in the snow but a) it's difficult getting the car to my normal haunts in those conditions and b) I often walk alone so it could be dangerous. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

I think the slippers would fall apart when I'm going up places like these:
(Allt Coire Gabhail - the "Lost Valley" and Gearr Aonach, Glencoe)

I don't go up places like the Three Sisters when its wet or misty - it's dangerous enough up there in good weather, plus I wouldn't have got the photos I wanted (not these ones, they were just for memories of the day out). _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”
