Aled tour starts 16th November and runs right upto 19th December. Aled probarly off over Christmas then back for Chris on breakfast 27th - 31st December. Richard does he's weekend shows, unless someone else covers this, then he may well. It does look like various people are covering at present.

This is good news.

Hopefully Richard gets the gig right up to the Xmas week when he then takes over from Ken Bruce for a while.

Thats a shame Angela
I'm not a veggie but I love nuts and at the moment I've developed an addiction to chestnuts roasted over the fire
I'm down at Tesco every day buying them and its costing me a small fortune and both my sons are now eating them like crazy
It would probably be cheaper to eat fillet steak every day so in a way I'll be glad when the chestnut season is over

Nice while it lasts though Very Happy

I would expect Richard will continue until Christmas. This is usually when Dark Lord gets his extended show. Unfortunatly it's not all the time.

A listener emailed Richard if he was doing early breakfast all the time - He replied "No a spiritual voice will be"

I think he was being a little sarcastic, and refering to Ms Feltz.

This is indeed good news.

Hopefully Richard will bring some of the features from his weekend shows to the early morning breakfast weekday shows during this week.

Hopefully 2.0 will be making an appearance.

Apologies LEE-I mistyped my original post-I was tired perhaps.

I was simply commenting that imho a few of the features on Richard's weekend shows would go down well on the weekday mornings show whilst he covers for Vaness Feltz.

The feature 2.0 will imo would go down well.

Just a note to say how great it was to hear the return of the best DJ on planet earth, Richard Allinson, back on the weekday Radio 2 schedules between 5 and 6.30am earlier today, and all being well for the rest of this week.

Don't forget to set your alarms early to avoid missing this radio extravaganza. Wink

I listened in this morning, it was lovely to have something that I liked on Radio 2 before I went to work. I'm not on such early starts for the next couple of days but I'm sure I will wake up early enough to hear Mr Allinson again.

Yes, I listened in today having been awake all night and having listened to Alex Lester before Richard thanks to the naughty antics of my dog last night

Oh well looking on the bright side I suppose at least the dog chose to keep me awake on a night when there were some decent presenters to listen to Smile

Yes, I've quite enjoyed listening to RA on the early breakfast show. Trouble is, reality hits with a thump immediately after the 6.30 news - time to be shouted at and treated like an idiot again!

I do think that Richard's review of the daily newspapers at around 5.15am is excellent.

He certainly does not seem afraid of adding his own opinion re the key stories featured.

I do think though, this could be very dangerous, and certainly a similar style contributed to the fall and eventual exit of Sarah Kennedy who certainly was not afraid of trying to impose her viewpoint onto the rest of the nation at every opportunity.

Freedom of expression seems to me "is certainly a fine line at the BBC".

Be careful Richard.

I did smile when Richard Allinson played Candi Staton and the track Young Hearts Run free straight after the 6am news on Tuesday and said "apologies for nicking Ken Bruce's opener."

Clearly I am not the only one, who thinks Ken Bruce just plays a selection of gay disco records from the 70's every weekday.

Richard always did a good paper review when he had a Sunday morning show on BBC Oxford a few years ago. Again he wasn't afraid adding his own thoughts.

I think you used to listen back then Mark if I remember correctly?

It was always good to hear Sarahs opinions on the news and records etc, whether you agreed or not. I think DJs etc should have a view otherwise it's all so bland, as long as they aren't offending anyone, its call freedom of speech

Keep up the comments Richard Very Happy

MM: you certainly are not the only one who thinks Ken Bruce just plays gay 70s disco and cheesy 80s ballads. The music he plays is truly lamentable, though this is the fault of the dreadful 'producer' Gary Bones of course. In any other job he'd get the sack but the BBC never sack anyone. I don't think KB likes the music he has to play, once referring to too much 'pink' music.
Of course KB is not going to rock the boat, with his huge salary and impending huge pension.

As for Richad Allinson, he is desperately dull but his music is pretty good. And credit to him for coming out with the occasional dig at something.

Except long-serving technical and production staff who have a wealth of experience but are deemed "surplus to requirement" in the new, slimmed-down, government-fearing, BBC. Good staffers at the Beeb up and down the land are being made redundant in their droves. The corporation is run by idiots.

Yes Helen I always tuned into Richard 's Sunday Show on Radio Oxford.

His newspaper review was excellent and was in depth covering all the major Sunday papers if I remember correctly.

I think Richard likes this serious feature and as mentioned before is not frightened to add an opinion or two.

Hope he gets to sit for Vanessa again soon.
