I quite like this cover of Ruby and the Romantics' old hit, despite the fact that she doesn't sound as though her heart was in it. There's an old fashioned sound to backing that's quite appealing.

I believe the track was recorded several years ago when she was about 21 so if her heart wasn't in it at least it would not have been because of her chaotic lifestyle which affected her in later years

Perhaps she preferred to sing her own material rather than a cover version although of course she did so with the Zutons track 'Valerie' some years later Confused

Yes, I think she brought something new to 'Valerie' whilst 'Our Day Will Come' is almost a perfect reproduction of the earlier one, orchestration-wise.

My favourite track of hers was 'Love is a Losing Game'. I think vocally she was just about at her best then. Such a waste.

Yes, Love Is A Losing Game is a beautiful song. In fact every track from Back To Black is good.
I loved Valerie too. Not so fond of her cover of Our Day Will Come. It's a bit soulless.
