Music journalist Pete Paphides told the story of how an M1 service station became a musician's meeting place in the 1960's. It was the Blue Boar cafe at Watford Gap. There were some interesting interviews with staff who had worked there and they recalled the bands who used to call in, he also talked to Johnnie Walker. It was broadcast on Radio 4 in the early hours of Sunday morning and is still available on the i-player. A very enjoyable listen IMHO. Very Happy

I remember hearing the name and stories of how the groups would meet up there. I don't think I'd been on a motorway at the time and it all sounded so glamorous to a teenager still at school!

Will try and listen back!

I'll give it a listen

Rather ironic that such an interesting sounding programme should centre around somewhere called the Blue Boar Laughing
