If it's true I assume Mr Glitter must subscribe to the famous theory that 'all publicity is good publicity'
Not sure it really works in his case though _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Who wants to be in my gang, my gang.. Gary Glitter is just a character. The person who has carried out these terrible crimes is Paul Gadd. |

I saw Glitter last year in a London park with his familiy/friends, still had that little silver goatee beard, bald head, and wore a sweater which had printed on the front

It should have said you are looking at a dirty pervert.
I've herd nothing more since yesterday so I assume it was a spoof account on twitter, I jolly well hope it was anyway. |

I was very concerned when I saw this on Twitter, and sent a few messages which you may of read? I was amazed that so many people were sucked into this. I don't know if most of the people were saying it to be sarcastic or geniune. I personally couldn't see a network internet provider let alone a mobile phone company allowing this to happen, cause Gary Glitter or anyone in his postion would be under strict conditions, but could he or any convicted paedophile obtain access to any of those services by asking someone close to them? There needs to be strict guidelines for social network sites, and hopefully they monitor these movements, as I suspect there are many who just sit behind the smoke screen watching. It's a dangerous world we live in, but technology as a greater danger now.. |

I noticed a while back that the US still regularly play his "Rock and Roll" track at Superbowl events.. looks like he's due another royalty cheque soon...
In spite of what he's been up to over the years, I still like some of his tracks and miss hearing them on the radio.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

As I've been saying for some time Santa I like some GG tracks but I can well understand it could be seen as inappropriate for radio stations to play them - especially on the royalties issue
However why on earth do we never hear any Glitter Band tracks on radio any more?
The band members had nothing to do with what Mr G did in his later years and even though the Glitter Band had almost 10 chart entries in the mid 70's these tracks are never played on any British radio stations even on POTP or the Smooth Double Top Twenty Show - or the Golden Hour on Smooth for that matter
It seems that it's a case of the Band being guilty not even by association but actually by former association going back almost 40 years ago and I think it is most unfair both to the Glitter Band and radio listeners alike
I suspect the problem may be that the fools who run R2 and other stations think the British public is so stupid and ignorant that they are incapable of differentiating between Gary Glitter tracks and those released by the Glitter Band without him which probably reflects Mr Shennan's attitude that listeners are ignorant idiots who should be treated accordingly
What other explanation is there for the state of things today on this once great station _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

There was a Gary Glitter performance on the 1977 TOTP broadcast by BBC Four last week... and, I have to say, it was well creepy. The song was "It Takes All Night Long" and was much more disturbing than the big "gang" numbers he did. Frankly, he came across as psychopathic Liberace.
Fair dos for BBC Four not censoring... but, blimey! |

I wonder what the BBC would have done if Michael Jackson had been found guilty when he was on trial for child offences. Would they have banned all records by him, the Jackson Five and the Jacksons? I think not. |

I watched a Top Of The Pops on 'I-player' last week where Gary Glitter was listed in the caption, but they must have edited him out as I certainly didn't see Gary play. I think they slotted something else in his place. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Don't know about iPlayer but they've been running cut-down versions of TOTP at 7.30pm, then the original length versions later on and that's the version I always watch. Last week was the first time they haven't cut Glitter from the extended version (and they've been cutting Jonathan King too)
Yet Sheer Elegance managed to slip by with their song "It's Temptation" about a girl who looks older than her 15 years! |

This particular programme was on again last night.....I hadn't seen it before so was quite shocked to see him on it .

I found this article on the web ... in it it says what the BBC had to say on the matter including this
But the 67-year-old will not be cut from the BBC Four repeat show, which features 70s stars Slade, Donna Summer and Leo Sayer.
A BBC spokesman said: “It would be inappropriate for us to rewrite history so we will show these programmes in their entirety.
“All performers receive a standard repeats fee.”

I just watched TOTP on the iplayer thingy and I was gobsmacked to see him.
Does this mean that POTP will never be able to do a week when GG was No 1. After all, it would be a bit silly not having the chart topper. _________________ I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. |
