It seems that this scandal has reared it's ugly head again. How can we nuture the athletes and potential future medal winners if the grounds where they train upon are being lost forever? There's a petition against this here: https://secure.38degrees.org.uk/playing-fields

Yet again all open promises by the PM saying " They would give £125 Million to helping sport"- is right lot of cobblers. We live in a greedy country where land is owned by a lot of MPs....

I signed, but will not add my card details across the internet...

I don't give my bank details out online either. I just signed the petition.
This is the only link I have:

I've just done it and donated a fiver from my PayPal account, and I don't see what the big deal is about paying for things online in this manner.

Seems to me the classic case of shutting the stable door.....

Thousands of school playing fields were sold off in the 1980s and 90s. Even independent schools have done it. Thirty one in the last two years shows that they're scraping the barrel.

It doesn't make it right, Ron. What happen's when they're all gone? Do new playing fields spring up in those areas?

How can it be a case of shutting the stable door when there are thousands more that could be authorised for sell-off (despite a massive upsurge in interest in sport by young people, post-Olympics) by that compete pillock Gove? He, and his cabinet colleagues, are completely clueless.

Thought I should bump this up to the top, as this petition is due to be handed in to Gove's office sometime tomorrow: https://secure.38degrees.org.uk/playing-fields

I have signed the petition, adding my own comment that 'relaxing the rules' means the developers will have carte blanche to destroy even more playing fields and countryside, and this nasty little Government of spivs losing the next election.
