how PRS works?Do artists get money from each station their song is played on?How much do they get per play it's i was listening to absolute 80's and whole of the moon was played three times so does that mean the waterboys get paid three times? cheers

I believe yes they get paid every time it is played.
I don't know how much.

I think some stations opt-out of PRS and do deals with record companies. So a station will just make a big deal with, say, Warners and play certain Warners tracks over and over. It's cheaper than doing PRS for every record, but I'm not sure if the artist gets much revenue from it.

I'm quite sure that deals are done because you will notice that certain radio stations including Radio Two will suddenly start to play a given track from several years ago many times within a few days without any logical reason

It's quite likely they've done a deal with the PRS or some other body so they feel the need to ensure they get their money's worth Smile

Does that explain why on R2 we always seemed to get 'Sweet Home Alabama', 'Come up and make me smile', 'Brown Eyed Girl' etc all the time ? Rolling Eyes
