Sad news and what an inspiration he was to so many budding astronomers. As a child I used to borrow his children's books of space stories from the library and always enjoyed them. |

Yes, I'm very sad to hear of this news although we all knew it was coming..
Patrick was one of my childhood role models and I have fond memories of late nights reading his books in bed, just before tuning in to Luxembourg and dreaming of becoming an Astronomer.
Patrick was indeed the gateway to other worlds for me and later in life, I loved his eccentric manner... xylophone and all!
I have on my desk right now, my well thumbed "Observer's Book of Astronomy"... a Christmas present from 1964.
God bless Patrick.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Oh, will miss him so. Someone I have watched and listened to as intently now as I did over 40 years ago.
Must mention that one Saturday lunchtime, maybe in 1972, I took my parents to the Student Union for lunch and we had a brief conversation with Patrick Moore who was there at a table with a young physically handicapped child, he said every time he was in Edinburgh he would take the child out to lunch. _________________ -
