I think the Aussies crossed the line in doing what they did - it's the type of thing Jonathan Ross or Russell brand would do given the chance
Remember the famous quotation that 'for every action there is an equal reaction' and sadly in this case the reaction was more than the Aussie perpetrators bargained for - shame on them

Apparently it was all cleared by the lawyers of the Radio station to broadcast this. That has obviously back fired. " We don't know if the tragic death is truly linked to hoax call? This is why maybe the hospital boss should have waited for the coroners report, but unfortunately this was leaked the nurse was the person who took the call and the press are making a meal out of it. We might have not known of her death if for one the Duchess wasn't admitted to hospital.
The two DJ's are not returning to the station until further notice as everyone is deeply shocked.
Lord Justice Leveson is currently in Australia. I bet he's doing a few interviews. |

We don't know that she took her own life because of the call but it seems too much of a coincidence for there not to be some connection, it probably tipped the poor lady over the edge, maybe she thought she'd lose her job or something.
very very sad whatever the reason. |

Levveson said at the end of the press conferance he will not talk about his report to anyone.It is very rare for it just to be one thing that leads to a suicide the poor lady may have had other things going on in her life which is not our business.I have been moved by this story and wish her family a lot of support in the future

It is really sad, but I do think that the media, encouraged to a certain extent by the hospital, is making an undignified drama out of it, and I suspect that we are not being told the whole story.

| I don’t think it needs to be anything awesome, Ron. At one end of the scale it could be a casual, throwaway remark to a stranger on a bus (not that you’d get me on a bus) or to a checkout operator, a taxi driver, a barman- anyone really. Everything we say and do has an affect on others. Sometimes good, sometimes bad but most of the time we have no clue either way and never will. At the other end of the scale, deliberately trying to set someone up or to use and abuse their naivety in the name of entertainment is something that: given the circumstances: a nurse looking after probably the most talked about person on the planet was not a great idea. |

Obviously he was ahead of his time - perhaps it was a subtle demand for the reintroduction of capital punishment in Australia - but clearly he got the numbers wrong

A stupid prank, certainly, but not something which hasn't been tried before, by radio, TV and newspapers, and the hospital and its staff should have been prepared for it.
The whole story is not yet out, but the latest news takes us a little further

I'm not saying that I particularly like Morrisey as a person - for one thing he supports Manchester United - but I think it's fairly unquestionable that he was and still is a great musician who was at the cutting edge of musical evolution in the early eighties
