The actor who, along with Martin Shaw was a big star of The Professionals, has dies from cancer. He was 67.

I wonder what happened to him in the last thirty years

I worked at Granada Television studios in the late sixties/early seventies and Lewis was a regular sight lounging around in the Mail Room there, engrossed in a paperback. He'd have been making Cuckoo Waltz at that time I guess. He seemed a pleasant guy, not very outgoing compared with some of the idiots that were around at that time. I loved the brooding interaction between him and Diane Keen in that show. It's a shame; apparently he's been battling cancer for 5 years.

I loved the Professionals. He also starred in many other films including SAS film Who Dares Wins.

Very special tribute by co star Martin Shaw.

Quote:
"I was very sad to hear today that Lewis has died. We spent a very tough four years together in making The Professionals, and shared in the production of what has become an icon of British Television.

"He will be remembered as part of the childhood of so many people, and mourned by his fans. I send my love and condolences to his family, and the great many who will miss him."

Apparently he was also a member of The Mojos who had a hit in 1964, Everything's Alright, though I'm not sure if he was in the band at the time.
