In my opinion it's good that you have an opinion about his opinion. Laughing

That'll be something for Essex radio listeners to look forward to at breakfast - yet another gobby radio presenter!

Hmmm - former Talk Radio presenter eh?

I used to have that inflicted on me twice weekly when I visited my late former mother in law and I can only best describe it as being the equivalent of Radio 4 for the brain dead

If I had to put up with the dreadful Mr Whale - brain dead or not -I'd definitely want some kind person to switch off my life support machine Rolling Eyes

I couldn't listen to the late night slot on Red Rose Radio when he was on...obnoxious man.

From Wiki

He is known for his plain-speaking, often acerbic and confrontational, broadcasting style; during phone-ins he frequently hangs up on callers he disagrees with or who do not make their point quickly enough - a tactic since copied by many presenters.

I remember hearing that a few times when in that neck of the woods. Wasn't he on late at night?

His phone-in show was later adapted by (I think) Channel 4 as a sort of radio show with pictures - video cameras providing a simultaneous TV output. Radio and TV for desperate insomniacs who have a compulsion to phone in and moan about something despite the fact that nobody is interested (least of all the show's host!).

Thinking back to those days,Helen, I used to enjoy listening to a programme of 'golden oldies' by Andy Peebles late on a Friday night/Saturday morning. It was pre internet (as far as I am concerned) so many of the songs he used to play I hadn't heard for ages - I think he featured one year a week....I'm thinking now as I'm typing that it could have been the top twenty for that year.

Not sure if it was on Red Rose or Lancashire.

Did you ever hear that?

I didn't hear that show Becky, sounds like it would have been a good one. I'm not sure if we can get Lancashire over the airwaves (as opposed to the internet) here and it's ages since I tried. I know we couldn't get Red Rose though.

You should have been able to get Red Rose where you are Helen as I used to get if a few years ago when I was working in Shrewsbury Smile

Not sure if radio reception goes the same as TV but just where we are you couldn't get a proper picture on a portable TV without hooking it up to a proper aerial. When we first moved here we went to buy one the guy said we have a 48 hour returns for if you can't get a picture. Must admit I was surprised when we couldn't. A couple of miles away it they could get a good picture.
