Drivers which caused a 150 car pile up have been offered courses instead of court appearance. They were idiots driving at speed when fog at low visibility. Some drivers need to think.

Technically speaking only drivers who had not undertaken a previous speed awareness course within the last three years should have been entitled to benefit from such an offer

I suspect on closer examination this will become apparent to the police and CPS otherwise people convicted of speeding elsewhere who were not offered a similar course might be able to challenge the imposition of fines and penalty points
