Thank God I have found a forum to vent my spleen. Has anyone else had enough of the excruciating voice up which is beginning to pervade the Jeremy Vine Show?
I used to love the JV show but I've now I've had enough of the childish dumbed down tedium the show has become. Aside from being a cottage industry for JV's backroom team, I cringe with embarrassment as another topic is introduced with the inevitable 'voice up'
Cringworthy examples over the past weeks has included a sex survey in which JV's voice up team created three different sex hungry couple scenario's
A hundred ways to avoid dementia. The voice up team voiced up every one which rolled on relentlessly. And finally the rather weighty issue of Scottish independance was 'voiced up' in a classroom style with teacher berating misbehaving pupils, posing infantile questions about Scottish Independance.
Other scraping the barrel topics have seen JV posing the question of 'bone wrenching hand shakes'.
Last week included a topic where JV asked if the listeners had ever experienced a 'concreting disaster' such as a cat walking over your newly concreted drive.
My guess is that JV is trying to emulate the 'success'of the Chris Evans pitch to kids getting ready for school. Oh I forgot wrong time of day.
As for me I'm heading over to Planet Rock until I get fed up with the old perenials such as Judas Priest 'breaking the law, or 'Paraniod by Black Sabbath.
Yours totally disgruntled |

Hello Bobandale - your spleen is very well vented. Good for you!
I too find the JV show unbearable. It's tabloid radio at its worst (in common with an increasing amount of Radio 2's output starting with weekday breakfasts) and I too hate the "voicing up" of contributions. Then again, I don't have to endure it much as I tend to avoid the slot altogether. The choice of discussion topics really does scrape the barrel on an almost daily basis and I can't for the life of me think why it's the "most listened-to current affairs show on British radio" as JV boasts from time to time.
Best avoided, really. |

Completely agree with both of you - the show is rapidly becoming a joke and it is quite obvious that Mr Vine's knowledge of most subjects is well below average
Great idea to retune to Planet Rock - since the deterioration in the Simon Bates Breakfast Show I've been listening to Paul Anthony at breakfast and on Saturday mornings in order to avoid the truly dreadful Graham Norton and it certainly works for me - pity we still don't have a decent rock show on Radio 2 _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I agree the topics are not what they were, and neither is the show. I no longer listen everyday as I used to but to, be honest the news is so dumbed down it's not the only news programme that is suffering. _________________ 88 - 91 FM this is Radio 2 from the BBC!
I said it live on air in the studio with Jeremy Vine on 10/3/2005 |

There's a much, much better Saturday rock music show on Radio Caroline. Ex-Luxembourg DJ Peter Antony (whose music knowledge is very good indeed) presents album tracks old and new (lots of unsigned bands) from 9-12. |
