will be no more as of next season as BT sport have paid a whopping £900 million for full rights for three years.I wonder how much BT are going to charge because i am already paying £83 for the full sky package and i am keeping it because of the cricket and of course it depends on spurs getting into it.I just don't see how BT are going to make their money on this _________________ I found out how you can hurt an insect. It's the bees knees |

It's a shame about ITV losing the Champs League. They've done a sterling job, over the years.
I do quite like the BT coverage, but wouldn't subscribe to them or Sky, out of principle. It's all those subscriptions, that allow the likes of Rooney, to be able to afford to buy a decent house every week. It's obscene. Fortunately, I do enjoy Five Live's football coverage, especially on Saturdays.
And I have to say, I prefer the TMS coverage of a test, than the coverage on Sky. Strauss has to be the most boring commentator ever. It's a shame that home test matches aren't free to air anymore. A real shame. But Aggers and co compensate nicely.
So, like Wendi Murdoch, I refuse to be shafted by Uncle Rupe. But I don't care for Tony Bliar. _________________ life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans |

I'm just glad to see the back of the Champions League on my TV which for me is a boring competition and a pale shadow of the old European Cup and is simply a totally predictable money generating rip off as with lots of football these days
The old competition was far more exciting being straight knockout and on the day any of the smaller and sometimes unknown teams could beat the giants whereas now with the league formula even if a small team wins any particular match the chances are the big teams who appear to run football will always still get through to contest the knockout stages
I think that the current format with its money generating obsession has also done a great deal to ruin British football which is now stuffed full of unloyal and overpaid foreign imports who have no links or rapport at all with the fans who are watching them
As far as I am concerned if the Champions League fiasco was scrapped tomorrow I certainly wouldn't be shedding any tears _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Can't say I disagree with any of that, Rudders. Spot on. _________________ life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans |

I agree too. In fact I've never been too interested in the Champions League until the final stages.
And hopefully it means no more Adrian Chiles and that ghastly Verve music.
I get BT Sports for free as I'm on BT Broadband. |

Since we have BT Sport and BT Infinity Broadband I hope I don't have to pay for their football in future!"
As for Sky

lp, I wonder if you could persuade them to reduce that. Two years ago we had 3 TV's receiving Sky and was costing us about £75. After daughter got married and moved out we asked Sky to disable one of the cards. They said you can keep it and we'll upgrade one TV to HD free. So we did that. Then when son got married and moved out we phoned Sky again, and said please disconnect 2 of the TVs. They said they would disconnect the oldest box (which went to freeview with Sky channel nos), and gave us a new Sky+HD box for one room, keep the other Sky+, and knocked our package cost down to £65. When it was due to go back to £75 we phoned them again to stop the Sky+ box. They said keep it and we'll keep your package at £65.
So we still have a Sky+HD and a Sky+ box, full package of films, sport etc on both. I wonder if littlepieces and others are paying £83 for the same package?
It's still a lot of money £65 per month, but we do watch a lot of football and films, and Mrs W uses the catch up/demand for her soaps _________________ -

Yeah, each time we threaten to reduce what we get they cave in. We have been with Sky for nearly 20 years so maybe 'loyalty' helps _________________ -

I've never knowingly given the Murdoch Mafia a penny of my money. Ever! |

Ah but I expect unknowingly you have!
The service provided by Sky and the recent revolution in how to watch TV has been gratefully received in our household.
Nowadays much of the time we are watching TV it is something recorded, films and dramas, oh and the Mrs W soap store, so can watch at a quieter time, except for news and football matches - must watch those live! - and it's routine now to wind back to watch offsides, goals etc and then listen to the commentators opinions and slow-mos. And shows like the Voice, can just rewind a few minutes to listen to a singer again. TV is just so much fun now! _________________ -

I can do all that you can do (above) as well, John. Just not courtesy of Mr. Murdoch! I can also export video and audio media in SD or HD to an HDD or USB stick and stick it into iTunes for synching to other devices. You're right, it's amazing what you can do these days!!
Anyway, if I have ever unknowlingly parted with cash to the Murdochs then it's a monir amount of money, not the extortionate amount paid by many in the form of monthly subscriptions. I'm staggered at the amounts of money people pay in Sky subs. Crazy. |

Indeed. The words "over a barrel" come to mind there! I'm not bothered about sport on TV to be honest but if I were then it would certainly present me with a dilemma. I absolutely detest everything Murdoch stands for so at the moment it's an easy decision to make.
I use a Freesat HD+ box which actually does more than the equivalent Sky HD+, although the only thing it doesn't do is allow me to set programme recordings via a mobile app. That's the only advantage that the Sky technology has for me, although Sky's EPG is better, too. |
