I don't think the problem is down to cheap booze Mark although I do agree about what you say
What really shocks me is what has been revealed about the extent of sexual harassment by men on men in or around the Commons which indicates to me that sadly our parliament seems to be stuffed full on people of a certain sexual orientation when it is supposed to be representative of our country as a whole
Bearing this in mind it's hardly surprising that we as a nation are forced to endure such abominable concepts as 'gay marriage'

Given that the Commons has 650 or more seats, the composition probably is representative of the nation as a whole. After all, there's a lot of gay people in society. |

Clearly not Colin because for example 52% of the current population is female but women form only around 20% of the present roster of MPs
Also just look at how many of today's members in all parties are privately educated compared to the population as a whole
Bearing this in mind if Parliament is not representative of the population in these areas that almost certainly equally applies in other areas including the one I mentioned

I hadn't read the piece in The Mail but had seen a similar piece in The Independent...that's why I mentioned it...looking at it just now I see they (The Mail) 'lifted' their story from Channel 4 News from the night before.
"The toxic claims were made last night by Channel 4 News in an investigation named The Palace of Sexminster
The Channel 4 investigation was screened last night to coincide with the end of the trial of Nigel Evans." |

As for the editorial leanings of the proprietorship I think (on this forum at least) we are all aware of which way (without looking at front pages) certain papers lean. |

I stongly disagree. The front pages of papers like The Mail tells me all I need to know - mostly about Lord Rothermere and Paul Dacre.

A quick look at the front pages of the Mail, Express and other right-of-centre tabloids gives a very clear indication of the political leaning of the paper. I agree that this is the case with most papers, of course, but I'd rather trust Independent journalists and editors than I would those of the Mail. |

I'm certainly not defending any paper ...in some cases they're all as bad as each other
I just commented on the fact that the Independent had also covered this story not just The Mail as you had intimated in your first post on this thread. |

There simply aren't any 'independent journalists' - they're not allowed that basic right if their views don't suit their paymasters
Admittedly papers like The Independent and The Guardian might not appear on the surface to be as bad as their tabloid cousins but the fact is they are - they're just better at dressing things up

I don't agree. In most cases they provide a different perspective - often a more rational and considered perspective. That's my opinion, anyhow.
And Jack Schofield's Technology column in the Guardian is one I've read for over 3 decades - and much more informative than anything remotely equivalent you'll find in The Right-Wing Rags. |

I'm not talking about things like technology or fashion or motoring features Colin
My comments are directed at the twisting and misreporting of day to day news stories often with life changing consequences for those unfortunate enough to be targeted
