Metropolitan Police have been given permission to buy water cannon.

Quote:
The inference from that report is that permission will be given

The mayor's office said: "By purchasing them now we are able to save over £2.3m compared to buying new devices".

The water cannon will not be deployed until the home secretary authorises their use in England and Wales.

In a statement the mayor's office said purchasing the cannon now for just over £218,000, before Theresa May approves them, meant they could be bought at a "considerably reduced rate".

A Home Office spokesman said: "We are keen to ensure that the police have the tools and powers they need to maintain order on our streets."

_______________

Will they be used or just be sitting around rusting away?

It's like a Crane company buying a multi million pound crane and not getting used as there is no work coming in.

The difference is that you could blame the person in charge of marketing. I guess that as far a water cannon is concerned you just have to make sure there's a plentiful supply of rioters. That way, the price can be justified.

If things continue as they are at present in this country I'm sure there will be a more than sufficient supply of rioters

Perhaps we need a popular revolution rather like what has recently happened in Eastern Europe in order to recover our traditional British values which have been hijacked over several years by the liberal dogooders Rolling Eyes

I'm not sure what "traditional British values" are - or if they ever really existed!

Boris the buffoon was on the radio yesterday saying that he would stand in front of one to try it out. Perhaps if the pressure of the water knocks him over it might do him some good.

Presumably, if you can stand in front of one, then there's not much point in having it?

Standing in front of one won't make Boris any wetter than he already is!

No but if he gets knocked off his feet, it might knock some sense into his stupid head. Laughing
