Alex Lester and Janice Long move to weekends slot whilst Richard Allinson is dropped to cover shows. The weekday 3-5am slot will be full of repeats.

Yet again Richard Allinson loses his shows. He lost his late show, then went onto cover shows, then returned with overnights, now lost this shows. I'm surprised Radio 2 have gone down this road of automation with Global Smooth and Heart etc have got live overnight shows. I thought Alex Lester show was popular during the weekdays and Richard Allinson was at the weekends. to me it looks like a cost cutting exercise. |

Surely the I Player is for the repeats. Obviously not. It seems the budget has really been slashed. |

The station has lost it's creative way with signing off live shows to automation. |

No - iPlayer is a digital distribution medium. That's why they ditched the "listen again" concept. It's now the BBC's fastest-growing delivery platform for all their media sources. I use iPlayer to listen to programming from a variety of BBC sources "live". Don't you? |

I am so glad that Shennan is delighted because I am not. I don't sleep well and I regularly listen to Alex and Richard. It is a pity that money isn't being saved on cutting the pay of some of the fat cat celebrities who know naff all about the music. _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Interesting for me to note the new Sunday night rock show - hosted by someone I've never heard of
I shall certainly give it a listen in the hope that it covers rock music prior to 1990 as well as the recent stuff
Having said that there has been a good deal of very decent rock music in the last 15 years or so
Rather ironic that at the age of almost 60 I'll have to return to Radio One which I listened to as a teenager in order to get my fill of rock when this is exactly the kind of thing Mr Shennan should be commissioning
I suppose at least we have Planet Rock these days which generally speaking does make a reasonable effort to fully cover what is a huge genre _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Can't be many more weekends of Richard Allinson to go.
Shame as even if I don't get a chance to listen again I always check out his playlist and always find several of my faves that he has introduced me over the years I've listened to his shows on Radio 2. I've just saved his webpage to my favorites so at least the playlists will still be available.

I think he mentioned this morning 5 more weekends left which I take to mean 10 shows. |

That sounds like a man who's about to kiss Radio 2 goodbye. Possible no more shows available to take. Very sad for the fans. |

On the other hand, he was on Simon Mayo's show this week and felt very much part of the Radio 2 family. |

Well the new schedule kicks in from this coming week. It now appears that all the overnight repeats are shows from the weekend. So its SOTS, Sounds of 70s, Sounds of 80s, POTP, Ana Matronic & Craig Charles. |
