Steve Wright sounded a little under the weather with his sore throat. Just incase he loses his voice I wonder who will cover him? Richard Allinson is on early breakfast so he may not be able too.

At least it was easy to tell which bits had been pre-recorded!

Like Marko, I'm of the opinion that Richard may not be able, too.

I guess he has a sore throat and plays on it. It's for the sympathy vote, as he knows listeners will talk about it.

So let's stop talking about the little twonk's illness and deny him the oxygen of publicity.

Any sensible broadcaster would have thought "I sound as rough as old boots- I'd best take a couple of days off sick...." Although knowing Wrighty, he's probably scared his cover will do a better job

This is terrible news. Has Her Majesty been kept informed? How will the nation cope if SW has to have a day off? Rolling Eyes

Anyone who knows stuff will tell you, that it’s after having a sore throat that one’s voice goes croaky. The croakiness is caused by the breaking up and loosening of the antibodies sent to fight the infection – the flemy type stuff – the green snotty stuff to rest of us, so Steve sounding croaky means that he’s on the mend, and it’s the shows, probably towards the end of last week, when he was actually suffering but no one noticed. That’s just the kind of Guy he is. An uncomplaining, hard-working and thoroughly professional Broadcaster, that’s our Steve. (I very nearly said that without laughing- Laughing oh too late.)

If he has the day off today, he just malingering.

I agree. I normally don't listen to "The Big Show" because it annoys me, but I heard the first few minutes of today's show and it was even harder work listening to him than normal so I switched off!

He definitely should have stayed at home today.

Not fine. It's like an AM radio that's not been tuned in properly!

I have listened to The Big Show for the last couple of days and I have realised that the best part of the programme is The Oldies which of course are picked by a listener and in which SW has minimum input. Pretty damning of the rest of the show isn't it?

If Mr Wrong has had a nasty throat infection for the last few days, then surely, as a professional broadcaster you wouldn't take that to your place of work (which is full of other people who rely on their voice to earn a living) and risk passing it on at an exponential rate to everyone else. It's not like he dives in half an hour before his show starts- he's there from between 9 and 10 in the morning, so the amount of people he must interact with during that time must be fairly large.

I'm faintly surprised that elf+safety hasn't chimed in to make sure they use their own exclusive microphones. Think of all the germs and bacteria that must lurk on the baffles - some of the DJs get very close.

(An old ad:- Are you hoarse? Go suck a Zube!... Or was it the other way around?)

Indeed. We can see just how close Evans gets to the mic on those annoying TV promotions.

Actually, come to think of it.................. keep up the good work, Steve!!! Love The Show! Wink

Admittedly, he sounded a little rough on yesterday's show, but upon catching the last part of today's airwaves feast.. I thought he sounded much better!
There's just no stopping a professionial presenter is there boys and girls? no wonder he has the prime slot...

I don't think he's a type of person to go sick. As I say " If he keeps going on his ego gets bigger" Laughing Hearing the emails and texts from the sympathy public, his head will be large by the end of the week Laughing

Most likely - given the fact that "The Big Show" is actually "The Big Patchwork Quilt"!

If Bruce was the Boss of Radio 2 he might give the listeners the sort of shows they like, unlike Shennan!
