....... I've given up trying to listen to your show this morning. Whilst I like you I just can't stand the crappy music you're playing this morning.

I'm now listening to a podcast on x264 video codec implementation. It's very interesting.

As has been mentioned before the problem is one Mr Gary Bones and his production team who continue to ruin what is essentially a good show

I don't think Ken has much say in the matter so perhaps he feels the same way as the rest of us

Hey don't be sorry, if you don't like it, you don't like it and that's it- no need to be sorry- it's no biggy.

I do feel sorry, Rachel. Kenny is such a nice wee fella, and it seems such a shame that he is sat there in that there studio down in the land of the sasenachs playing music and talking to himself all alone just because I'm not listening.

Still, the upshot is that the podcast on x264 compression is actually very enlightening, so at least I'm doing something useful!

Life is for learning.......... Cool

I'm with Colin and Ruddles here. I like Ken, he's bright, funny, knowledgeable and interesting. He's the kind of bloke I'd like to meet regularly in the pub and we'd solve the problems of the world and have a good moan!
The problem is the appalling, vomit inducing music. Do we really want to hear tracks from Saturday Night Fever all the time? No we don't. It's cheesy, bland, unchallenging and, above all, safe. Mustn't rock the boat, especially with retirement and huge pension looming.

If he likes 60s Motown so much, as people say, why doesn't he bloody play it? As Ruddles says, it's the fault of the dreadful Gary Bones. Sack him now.

“Vomit inducing music”. I like that. Does that genre have a name? “Rock and Regurgitate” or Puke Rock or perhaps Heave Hop or maybe just plain old Street Chunda! Yay! Who the heck is Gary Bones?!

Ken's current and now executive producer who previously 'did' Richard Allinson's Saturday show.

I've met him and he's a nice guy!

Can't argue about the music played on Ken's show - it's mostly rubbish.

I like Ken, but the music (and possibly Ken's producer) should be consigned to the bin.

Decent music would be a good start, then we can take it from there.

When Gary Bones produced Richard Allinson's original 3 hour saturday show, there seemed to be a bit more spark (if that's the right word) in what music was played and regularly surprises. A track I hadn't heard in many years. That was one of the main things I looked foreward to in Richard's afternoon show. Let's have that philosophy again being used in the music played on Ken's show. With certain artists why not explore their discography a little deeper than the one or two biggest hits they scored (I will cite Manfred Mann's Earthband who have had more hits than just 'Blinded By The Light' & 'Davy's On The Road Again') as an example. I'm sure if the will is there it can be done quite easily.

I don't think you can compare the 2 show LEE though, as Saturday listening always has and no doubt will always be different from the weekday shows.

For all the daytime output- the buck stops with Big Phil- he's the main man, anything Gary Bones ( is that his real name?) does must be ok with Big Phil, and if it's ok with Big Phil, it's ok with me. Smile

I believe it's Old Potatohead himself - Phil Mitchell. If it isn't, they should give him a go because the current management isn't fit for purpose! Smile

have to agree, I'm sure the music played is on a continual loop over a 4 week period apart from the record of the week etc. Another gripe I have having just heard popmaster, shouldn't there be some rule about people going on again (and no not personal as I wouldn't want to show myself up)

I'm in the same boat,i like Ken but the music is a bit bland.Rob Birnie on planet rock is very good and also has a quiz(although to be fair all the questions are rock related)

Loved Ken's joke this week: what do the M62 and the Premiership have in common?

Both have Manchester up at one end and Merseyside down at the other.

Its not really all that funny when you realise the M62 actually runs from Liverpool to Hull and Manchester is just a place en route so to speak

Is Ken now taking geography lessons from Gary Bones as well as instructions about his playlist Confused
